Does the rsync/xdelta algorithm *need* to write a new file?
...e that rsync
complete ISO images: they would not need to reserve space for an
entire extra ISO on their systems.

Does anyone keep a known telemarketer caller id database? If not has anyone
proposed an Asterisk community project to share this information? Sort of a
nation wide blacklist so Asterisk'ers can cut down on the garbage calls...

Why can't I save/restore block devices?
Hello everybody,
I'd like to save/restore some partitions on my harddrive via rsync.
(They happen to contain other os'es, so I can't safely mount the partitions
read/write).
So, I'd like to do something like
rsync /dev/hda1 server::images/part_1.image -c -z -B65536 -S
but:
- "skipping non-regular file part_1" is misleading. Not the destination is not
a file, the

rsync backup performance question
...SDN lines.
Because of the limited bandwidth, rsync is the prime candidate of
course.
Potential problems I see are server load (I/O and CPU), and filesystem
limits.
Does anyone have experience with such setups?

SOLUTION - Compiled Kernel and modules for XEN3.1 on PowerEdge 1950
Dear all,
since it could be of interest for the list, here I post a link to
compiled kernel for XEN 3.1 on a DELL PowerEdge 1950 compiled with
gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21) on a Debian4
distribution.
