Installing bioconductor
...sage:
unable to connect to 'www.bioconductor.org' on port 80.
It is maybe due to security systems at my computer that I cannot go through this port? Does anyone know how I can change the port in R, so I can install the pakages from the bioconductor home page through another port?
Thanks, Kristine

write.table file="file.txt" help
Hi all,
I have a R script that creates several input files for an analysis
program. It loops through the matrix read into R and picks out
submatrices and then creates a separate output file for each
submatrix. The loop works great, but I am having trouble getting all
the separate output files written.
The line I have is:

How to remove square brackets, etc. from address strings?
Hello,
I'd like to remove the individual pairs of square brackets along with
their content - plus the space directly behind it - from address strings

The Casmalia.Rdata file looks the right size. But is apparently missing a
magic number. Can this file be fixed in an editor such as Textpad so that
it can be restored?

npindex: fitted values of the function itself?
Dear list,
I am using the np package. With the npindex function I estimate a
semiparametric single index model using the method of Klein-Spady.
P(Z=1|X) = G(X?b)
I don?t have any problems to calculated the fitted values and standard
errors X?b:
bw = npindexbw(xdat=x, ydat=y_bi, method="kleinspady", nmulti=2)
model = npindex(bws= bw3, gradients= TRUE, residuals = TRUE, boot.num =

question about SVM in e1071
Hi,
I have a question about the parameter C (cost) in svm function in e1071. I
thought larger C is prone to overfitting than smaller C, and hence leads to
more support vectors. However, using the Wisconsin breast cancer example on
the link:
http://planatscher.net/svmtut/svmtut.html
I found that the largest cost have fewest support vectors, which is contrary
to what I think. please see the scripts

Diagnosing call problem
Asterisk 11.1.0
Various soft-phone SIP clients
call center with 10-12 agents online at once using asterisk queue
Occasionally an agent will get a call (or more often a series of calls
in a row) where neither party can hear the other, or can only hear each
other sporadically. A MixMonitor recording of the call plays only the
caller - none of the agent's audio is heard in the recording.

When should I reboot?
I reboot when I yum update to a new kernel or systemd, which seems to come
out about once a month. Should I do it for this week's glibc? Is that
"core" enough to justify a reboot or should I wait for the next kernel
update? I know the glibc update was mainly to handle the new Japanese
calendar, so that shouldn't affect my usage. So my question is more about
how shared

Autocomplete and Firefox
Having problems with the autocomplete on my linux box and firefox.
When I use form tags it breaks, without form tags everything works fine.
Exact copy of the example provided, but I added form tags.. The initial
search and select works but then the box sort of "locks up" and I can''t
change it at all, If I do try to type something nothing changes but a
