Hello samba gurus!!! I have samba-1.9.18p4 installed on Linux RH5.0. Ability to change the SMB password from a Windows 95 client is very fine, but if 'normal' user have no password and record in smbpasswd file apper like this user:uid:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:..... then no chance to change password from a Windows 95 client, and by using smbpasswd.

I compiled Samba on Linux using all of the following flags. -DREPLACE_GETPASS -DSMBGETPASS -DALLOW_CHANGE_PASSWORD -DSHADOW_PWD -DQUOTAS -DFAST_SHARE_MODE The server is running security = user using encrypted passwords out of a smbpasswd file. ...is, I have some DOS only clients. It's possible to install Win 3.11 on it, but all the programms have to use a native DOS. So I need my network-disks on native DOS. So I don't want to change them by hand. Any suggestions ??? Another quick Samba question: I've set up 4-5 shared printers. The smb.conf section on them looks like this: [las7] comment = HP LaserJet 4siMX in S181A path = /var/spool/samba postscript = yes printer = las7_direct printable = yes public = yes writable = no create mode = 0700 I want people to be able to print to these printers without having to supply a

...other group. Is it possible to force user and group per directory and not per share, or is it possible to create links in the filestructure that are pointing to other samba-shares ??? So the thing I want to do is to be better than the unix-filesystem-permission-set.
