Self compiled wine does not find CD-Rom
...launched the game with my compiled wine version. I thought this was only necessary when I used a different wine version now than the version the wine prefix was created with. So I ensured that my installed wine and the self compiled wine really have the same version which is the case obviously: korn at pc:~/wineprefixes/comanche_3/drive_c/C$ ~/wineprefixes/wine/wine/wine --version wine-1.3.29 korn at pc:~/wineprefixes/comanche_3/drive_c/C$ wine --version wine-1.3.29 It is really odd and I cannot do regression testing this way of course. This is the dosdevices directory in this wine prefix:...

Bug#385308: Please provide way to run xend in the foreground, without daemonizing
Package: xen-utils-3.0 Version: 3.0.2+hg9697-2 Severity: wishlist Hi, it would be nice to run xend under the supervision of runit. xenconsoled and xenstored already provide relevant switches (-i and --no-fork). Thanks Andras -- Andras Korn <korn at chardonnay.math.bme.hu> <http://chardonnay.math.bme.hu/~korn/> QOTD: Paranoid: someone who just figured out what's going on.

Real sh? Or other efficient shell for non-interactive scripts
...s better scripting ability (eg typescript options bash has never seen). Many Solaris provided scripts were ksh. Bash was bigger than ksh in the non-commercial Unix world because of ksh88 licensing problems. Back in 1998 I wanted to teach a ksh scripting course to my local LUG, but AT&T (David Korn himsef!) told me I couldn't give people copies of the shell to take home. (Finally, too late in the day, they changed their licensing). -- rgds Stephen

I have already checked out the appdb [3], but did find a helpful comment. Has someone got the network play to work? Real sh? Or other efficient shell for non-interactive scripts
...That > would only be true if you "sourced" the script from your shell. A script with no shebang will run in the environment of the account running the script. If that account is root and root uses the bash shell then the script will run in the bash shell. If that account uses the korn shell then the script will run in a korn shell... etc. So it depends and Pete was more correct. All the Sun systems I worked on (way in the past) had the bourne shell on the root account and I usually set my account up with a korn shell. On linux boxes both the root and personal account use th...
