Samba + WAN?
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
On a CD-ROM-server at the University Koblenz-Landau we are
using Samba (2.0.5a) with Red Hat Linux (6.0, Kernel 2.2.5).
The server is located here in Koblenz, but also used from
another department of the university at Landau (about 80 miles
from Koblenz; they have their own class B network).
A traceroute from both locations gave a response t...

They disappear from the status panel immediatly when the spooling is

Samba server with NFSV4/kerberos
...e problem:
At our site we offer windows and linux, most servers (eg file, samba,
web) are linux based. User data is stored on NFS file servers. Windows
systems are part of a Windows domain with an ADS domain controller. At
the moment the linux samba server is joined to the ADS domain
(ADSREALM.UNI-KOBLENZ.DE) and uses a "secutrity=ADS" configuration.
Works great with NFSV3.
Now I would like to set up a samba server that uses NFS V4/kerberos to
access user data instead of NFS3. NFSV4 with sec=krb5 is running fine
using a MIT kerberos server for the realm (LINUXREALM.UNI-KOBLENZ.DE)

System load problem with samba 4.4.2 caused by many ntlm auth client requests
...he whole smb.conf with all shares and then fails to do the
authentication requested by the client, that as far as I know should be
done against the windows domain controller but not against the samba
server.
All these windows clients are domain clients of our local windows domain
"MYREALM.UNI-KOBLENZ.DE" served by a real windows domain server. From a
users point of view everything works fine allthough things could still
speed up if the load was lower.
The really strange thing about this problem is that it occured first
about 2 weeks ago, but in this time there was no new samba version

I don't know much about TL devices, and I've not dug the ml, but
Charles might have an answer to that.

never heard about it.

provided, or the protocol used, ... ?
cheers,

Performance problem using clustered samba via ctdb
...on one of the servers it works just fine.
Now I ask myself two questions:
1. Is the nbenchmark kind of realistic test?
2. Why do throughput rates drop as much as I found out and is this a
known behavior of ctdb or is my configuration somehow bad?
Any ideas?
Thanks
