OGG --> MP3 conversion app?
...MP3 files, so a nice program where i can drag and drop folders to reencode to MP3 would be a very nice thing to have indeed. Kinda like oggdrop but mp3drop. if there isn't i might just attempt to write one (i'm just 1st year university student with a smattering of win32 API/java swing knowlage so i don't know how good/far i'll beable to get) Chris <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the wor...

Gigabit Samba
I'm trying to run Samba on a gigabit network. On the server side I've got Samba 2.2.1 running on an sgi Origin200 with a gigabit ethernet card plugged into a gigabit switch, and the files are being served off a fibrechannel raid array. On the client side I have a windows 2k box with a gigabit card plugged into the same switch. Both machines and the switch claim that everything is

Samba password issue
Is it possible to have the users password on the Unix end to be different to that of the Windows client user. Example: I have a Windows 2000 user who logs onto his PC as "fredblogs" with a password of "password1". On the Unix Samba end I have the user "fredblogs" setup with a password of "password2". I am then unable to access the Unix server, if I reset

Win 2000 Prof in workgroup with samba 2.2.2
Hi folks, this is the problem: we have several Win2000 PRO SP2 working in workgroup (not joining the domain) with a unique local user. The server Samba acts with security = user, with no encrypted password and keeps the username/password of people who want to connect to it. People log on the W2000 with the same username/password kept into samba server but when we map a network drive, the samba

[LLVMdev] Building self-hosting compiler in language "X", using LLVM
...tebles - no VMs or runtime files) for some language (i'll call it a language "X", as it don't have name yet, cuz i'm desinging it - a hobby project of mine) and i want to write compiler in that language ("X"), a self-hosting compiler as they call it. I have a little knowlage of x86 assembly, object file formats, linkers, executables and all that stuff, so i first tought that i'm going to make compiler which compiles to bytecode (like java) and then execute it by virtual machine... but then i found about LLVM. And as more as i read about it i like it very much. But...

[PATCH 0/1] virt-make-fs: add '--blocksize' option support
...fact, the overall size of the source is not enought information to create minimal file system which can hold all files and directories. And in general it is hard-to-impossible to achive this (while keeping file system as small as possible) for all possible file systems without relying on internal knowlage about file system organization. We do very basic adjustments in our estimations but that is not enough. Nevertheless the above observations are not related to provided patch itself. But to my knowlage Microsoft-OS's starting with DOS have never changed the time of a file during copying. (DOS only knows the modification time?). On the other side unix allways changes the modification time, unless you supply the -p option. Historical difference, a matter of opinion, ... Personnaly I'...

...r files in /etc/pam.d what modules do they use? On RH 7.1 pam_pwdb seems to be replaced by pam_stack. Get the sama-source, there should be an example for /etc/pam.d/samba. pam_smb_auth is probably wrong because you want to authenticate samba users and not to use smb to authenticate users. To my knowlage pam_smb is going to be replaced by windbind. > > The other things I did: > > - all users are NIS-users and should be available evrerywhere in the net. good. are they? > - I copied the old /etc/smbpasswd to the new server. - I thought that should > be fine... - Is it? ...site / document available on how to set up > a SAMBA server to support a combination of NT / 98 / 2000 machines? > > of special interest is having profiles (specially outlook mail There a ways to redirect the outlook mail files form the profiles to stay permanently on the server. To my knowlage on hack is: Close Outlook, move the file to the new palce, open outlook and choose the file. This has the big advantage that the profiles are not geting that big and thus the logins/logouts are faster. We have set up profiles for NT with 2.0.7 working perfectly (as far as this MS-construction...

To my knowlage the winpop-up protocoll is one way: As soon as the sender knows the ip to send to the message was sucessfull. Look into the smb logs, may be you find some thing there. Is xedit in the path of the guest user? DISPLAY-Variabele, X-permissions, ... ? > One last question : Some remote printers...
