Hi, I was getting an error when uploading Knoppix ISO images with compression with Rsync. Here is the error as I recall it: tomg@nova:~/mylibrary$ rsync -rtlvessh --partial --delete --delete-after --bwlimit=8 /extra/library academus:/var/pub building file list ... done library/software/Knopper,_Klaus/ library/software/Knopper,_Klaus/KNOPPIX_V3.2-2003-04-18-EN.iso deflate on token returned 0 (16384 bytes left) [ some other line mentioning token.c ] tomg@nova:~/mylibrary$ Unfortunately I can't reproduce it right now for a set of complicated reasons: - Rsync will not produce the error...

openssh X11Forwarding problem solution
...Developers: How about using $HOME/.Xauthority as default cookie file instead of /tmp/ssh-something, at least as a configurable option? b) Sysadmins: Disable the (re-)setting of XAUTHORITY in the shell profiles, or add [ -z "$XAUTHORITY" ] as condition. Creating LiveCD with EFI option?
...rt. After you've done generating the iso image with xorriso you can just run: isohybrid --uefi --mac image.iso then test this image with qemu and http://tianocore.sourceforge.net/wiki/OVMF with the -bios option to qemu. Question about syslinux EFI alpha version
Dear list, I would like to add and test EFI boot support for a live system. Since I use isolinux and syslinux for everything, I would be glad to have syslinux.efi as boot loader for EFI-only machines, so I can just keep all syslinux.cfg files, help files and boot screen as they are. I checked out version 6.00-pre git of syslinux (the "firmware" branch) and was able to compile efi32 and

Creating LiveCD with EFI option?
I've been using various versions of syslinux as the boot loader for the g4l project that I have been the maintainer of since 2004. It was already using syslinux, so I've just updated it over the years, and currently have it use 5.10 version, but have done test builds with the 6.x versions. Recently had request from to users about EFI support, and one suggested that virtualbox has

Isolinux and Windows NT Installations
...es are these files to boot up a windows NT installation. What did I wrong? What should I have a look at that my CDs work on most systems? When the BIOS gives an option to boot from CD is this not a sign that these CDs will work. I hope you can help me... Regards Andi PS: Is there a reason why Knopper uses isolinux 2.11 on the KNOPPIX 4.0.2 CD?

R for various ports of linux
To all: I currently download the R binaries for Redhat 7.x Linux. There is considerable turmoil in the vendors of Linux. Redhat apparently is changing it's business model to paid versions. This might motivate my department to use a different vendor of Linux. Is there anything predictable about which vendors/versions of Linux will have R binaries in the future? Thanks, Nathan PS I

isolinux + cloop
Hi. I am trying to build a bootable linux CD using isolinux and a cloop image. I am a bit lost right now. What I have done is built a custom distro on a seperate partition on my hard drive. I can boot to it with Grub no problem. I've added the ioslinux directory with isolinux.bin, isolinux.cfg, a kernel (with initrd, loopback, iso support), and an initrd file. My next mission is to some

Option to create livecd using new syslinux to support multiple machines.
Wondering what the best process would be to create livecds using the newer version of syslinux. Currently my G4L project has just been upgraded to syslinux 5.10 and works fine with regular 32 and 64 bit systems using the 32bit kernels, but have seen comments about EFI and somethings about 32bit only working with 32bit and 64bit with 64bit? Since I average about 1,000 downloads per week, I
