libvirt bridge configuration
Hi Every one, I'm hoping some one can point me in the right direction. We are piloting KVM + Libvirt for migrating off Xen and I'm stuck with the network bridge configuration via libvirt. What we have currently with xen is: 1 server with Wan/lan interfaces and a pool of public ip addresses. Using xen bridge scripts I'd start a xenbr0 and attach eth0 (wan) and go ahead and assign

hi, I having problems with a knowed bug in rsync, it hangs during transfers in the SFU version (services for unix), I read in this page http://www.mail-archive.com/rsync@lists.samba.org/msg18807.html that if I use the --no-ir option in the rsync 3.0 version, it will avoid the hang bug... the problem is that I dont know where to download that version of rsync for the SFU... or when will be

Dear all, I try for long to understand exactly what is the factor type and especially how it works, but it seems too difficult for me.... I read paragraphs about it, and I understand quite well what it is (I think) but I still can't figure how to deal with. Especially these 2 mysteries (for me) : 1st when I make a dataframe (with the as.data.frame() or the data.frame() commands) from

Stuck on joining W2K clients to domain Samba 3 LDAP 2.1.23
Not related to joining W2K clients to a domain but the "net" command refuses to work if there is a problem in smb.conf. Even if you run testparm and nothing is wrong. I don't kno if it's the order or whitespaces that causes it to not work. I"ve had to swap out smb.conf several times because I couldn't find the problem why the "net" command wouldn't run.

ANOVA(L, Terms...)
Hi There I have a lm object with 4 parameters and I want to test wether 2 parameters are equal using a Wald test (basically b1=b2 or b1-b2 =0). In the help file from R it says that under ANOVA the optional arguments " Terms" or "L" test whether a linear combination is equal to 0. I tried; >anova(m1, Terms = Beta1-Beta2=0) but I get the error: Object " Beta1"

An idea
A recent request to provide a way to block access to certain websites (ba= nner=20 ads) led me to an idea. a) A new directory /etc/shorewall/lists b) In this directory, are files containing lists of IP addresses and/or=20 subnets c) a new JUMP rule: =09JUMP:list1=09loc=09net=09tcp=09http d) By default, matching in the list would be by destination address and i= f a=20 match was found, the

ksmooth in SPLUS vs R
I am working with a model that I have to estimate a nonparametric function. The model is partial linear i.e. Y=X$\beta$ + f(z) + $\epsilon$ I am using the ' double residual methods' Robinson (1988) Speckman (1988) where I estimate a nonparametric function for each of the parametric variables in terms of the nonparametric one i.e. X[,i]=g(Z)+ u this is done because I need the $E(

Support for gzipped kernel mods
After my wonderful experience with febootstrap and and gzipped kernel modules I just wanted to post a little information about it. febootstrap uses insmod, it seems because insmod is required for building the initrd, while modprobe can read in gzipped kernel modules, insmod cannot. This means that there are two solutions to the problem, one would be to make febootstrap copy all of the modules to

Real sh? Or other efficient shell for non-interactive scripts
It was the mid/late-90s, but I seem to recall Bourne being the default shell, although sh/ksh/csh were all available with a typical install. Question about silos and Authentication policies
Hi Stefan, We had a long weekend in New Zealand, I'm catching up now to your emails. Some of the slight differences between Windows tools I've already picked up on and are in my PR Andrew Bartlett mentioned on Friday, but I'm always open to learning what things are missing or different etc. On 23/10/23 02:58, Stefan Kania via samba wrote: > Talking to myself again ;-) > >

lustre quota problems
Hello, I''ve several problems with quota on our testcluster: When I set the quota for a person to a given value (e.g. the values which are provided in the operations manual), I''m able to write exact the amount which is set with setquota. But when I delete the files(file) I''m not able to use this space again. Here is what I''ve done in detail: lfs checkquota

some ZFS issues
Hello, I have read much about ZFS and I find it great, especially the checksums against silent data corruption and the COW writing policy and the snapshots and of course the storage pooling. But there are some points I have problems with: - What happens to the pools if the machine is shut down and rebooted? Are the pools automatically exported and imported again on boot up? Where is the
