[Fwd: [networking-discuss] code-review: fine-grained privileges for datalink administration]
Crossbow team,
The following is of interest to the Crossbow project. Since a large
chunk of these changes also exist in the Crossbow gate, the delivery of
this wad will result in fewer lines of changes for Crossbow''s delivery.
If someone on Crossbow could participate in this review, that would be a
bonus (Eric Cheng made original changes in the Crossbow gate at some
point last year).

ZFS and memory usage.
...FS memory usage. I''ve no idea how to leash that beast.
FreeBSD has a backpresure mechanism. I can register my function so it
will be called when there are memory problems, which I do. I using it
for ARC layer.
Even with this in place under heavy load the kernel panics, because
memory with KM_SLEEP cannot be allocated.
Here are some statistics of memory usage when the panic occurs:
zfs_znode_cache: 356 * 11547 = 4110732 bytes
zil_lwb_cache: 176 * 43 = 7568 bytes
arc_buf_t: 20 * 7060 = 141200 bytes
arc_buf_hdr_t: 188 * 7060 = 1327280 bytes

can Dtrace be used for the error injection?
Hi,
is it somehow possible to use Dtrace for error injection in a kernel module?
Something like changing:
- function return value
- value of a register
If not, can it be implemented?
I can do that via kmdb, but I need Dtrace for the time synchronization
- chill() action.
I can not combine Dtrace & kmdb:
dtrace: failed to initialize dtrace: DTrace cannot be used when kernel
