Cyber Cafe Pro on Linux
...d stability issues. Recently, we lost all our data and had to re-install. May you please help us in flawlessly porting this application so that it can run on Linux both on the server and client sides. If this happens, it could mean an end to our nightmare with Windows! We have already tried Open Kiosk (which natively runs on Linux) prior to making my request. Open Kiosk is free but is not advanced enough to meet our requirements. For example, it can't allow us to control and charge for excessive bandwidth. We've done extensive research on what is available and so far Cyber Cafe Pro seems...

CentOS as an internet kiosk : how to create a "fresh" user upon leaving GNOME ?
Hi, I'm currently busy setting up a machine for use as an internet kiosk. Here's what I aim to do. - There's only one user on the system, 'invite'. One (very simple) password. The machine is to be used publicly and freely. - To ensure some privacy, there's one detail though. The best thing would be that upon disconnection from the GNOME session,...

Help configuring firewall
I am trying to configure a firewall, but nailing down the configuration is eluding me. The box is running Debian stable. Basically, I have a rackmount server with six network cards. eth0 is the internal network, eth1 is a kiosk network, eth2 is a DMZ/wireless network. On the outbound side, eth3 is a DSL connection and eth4 is a cablemodem connection. What I am trying to do is route all internal traffic out the DSL connection (eth0 to eth3), and the two dmzs, kiosk and wireless out the cable connection (eth1 and eth2 to e...

X11 forwarding not working.
Hi! I'm having a difficult time getting X11 forwarding to work. Since I've read the docs completely about this, this must be an SSH bug which is likely because I'm using Gentoo as the SSH server. When trying to forward X11 connections, I get X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication. kwrite: cannot connect to X server XXXXXXXXX:10.0 Using command ssh -Y -p 1111 -4

PXE 0.99h stacks... any chance?
Hi I have searched the site, list archives, google etc and have not been able to find an appropriate answer so I am asking it here. Apologies if this has been answered already. I have a kiosk-style pc which I wish to remote boot to keep it quiet. This way I don't need a hard disk at all, keeping it truly silent as it has a passive cpu cooler. Unfortunately, it has no upgrade options. I am unable to add any expansion cards, etc. It has a PXE stack built-in but this is an "In...

How to configure xguest Firefox home page
I've installed CentOS 6.6 on a workstation at a local non-profit as a kiosk machine. I used xguest. Works great, except now the customer wants the Firefox homepage to be one pointing to a particular site. Doesn't seem to be much documentation on how to make minor changes to the account. Lots of SELinux guidance, but nothing about default home page, etc. Dave

Help with multi-monitor Xorg stuff
...y AMD/ATI driver. This had a utility (I roorget the name) that generated a working xorg.conf file. I could them throw up the "matchbox-window-manager" on each monitor in turn using "DISPLAY=:0.0", "DISPLAY=:0.1" etc and then throw up a full-screen chrome web browser in kiosk mode on each monitor after that. This all worked great. In a recent version of CentOS 7, this all broke. The proprietary driver no longer works. The good news is that the open source driver seems to work fine with multi-monitor in Gnome for example. My only issue is that I don't want to us...

PXEBoot/Diskless client NFS issue
...I've confirmed they and the pxeboot.0 file I'm using are the most recent being distributed. I've also unsuccessfully tried to use the ip parameters on the pxelinux.cfg/default line. As this seems to me as the most relevant config to post, here's what I've got there: label kiosk kernel kiosk/vmlinuz append initrd=kiosk/initrd.img ip=dhcp root=nfs:192.168.250.10:/var/lib/tftpboot/kiosk/root rw selinux=0 If other configs are requested, I'll gladly provide them, but again all works fine if I do this in the 192.168.85.x IP range. Once I've got this particula...

IProute2 and netfilter interactions
...to build a firewall and from my reading of the list archives and other places, I''m worried about unintended interactions between iptables and iproute2. Here is my situation I have an internal network on eth0 and two separate dmzs on eth1 and eth2 respectively (a wireless network and a kiosk). On the outbound side, I have a cablemodem provider and a dsl provider. What I need is to set up routing such that the internal network goes out on the dsl, while the dmzs go out on the cablemodem. What would be the best approach to this configuration? Will there be any unforseen interactions...

Breaking the 256 command line limit
I'm building pxe-booted kiosk systems using pxelinux 3.09 and linux kernel 2.6.14. I noticed a discussion on this list that 3.09 supports a 511 character command line but that the kernel would need to be patched to access it beyond 255. How can I patch the kernel to do so? CentOS 7 remove items on screen
How can I remove the four items on screen? Applications, Places home trash from the command line? I'd prefer to remove the top panel and bottom panel all together if possible, but they can stay - I just don't want anything showing on the screen. searched all around for kiosk mode gnome3 etc.. not finding anything good for CentOS7. Was able to do this in CentOS 6 can't believe they took out functionality. Any way to "not" have those menu items and not have icons on the main screen? Thanks jerry

GSOC -2008 - Few Questions
Hello All, I am participating in the Google Summer of Code 2008. I am a student from India. I am interested in rewriting Gfxboot as a COM32 module.I am interested in syslinux because I used the ppmtolss16 perl script present in syslinux to create my own splash screen for a kiosk system which was built on Myslax(and isolinux was present too!!!). I am a newbie and have some basic knowledge of C. I have few questions. 1. I searched through the web and also the mailing list archives but could not find the specification for GFXboot. Can someone provide some useful links? 2. I...

AJAX automatic print to specific printer??
Is it possible to print directly to an XP Pro default printer without having to go through an intermediate dialog? The clients are XP Pro with IE. The printer is accessed directly through the network, but could easily be setup as a Windows shared printer if that helps us out. I''ve seen where I can use window.print but the user still has to click OK. I would like to avoid any
