home on nfs
Hi,
I have the home directory of a user on an nfs server and mount it on a
client. When the user logs in, they end up in the root directory rather
than in their actual home directory and need to cd into it.
The user can read and write to their home directory, so it kinda works
fine --- but only kinda. When the user starts emacs, some of the
settings in ~/.emacs are not applied, but the saved desktop is being
loaded.
Both machines are running Centos 7.4. What could be wrong with the nfs
mount?

net rpc rights list 'accounts' works, kinda, sorta?
...me thing sans "tdb" noise.
But if I do it a second time, it just works and returns 0.
Looking at the TCP dump I see that in the failure case I get a
"Trans Response, FID: 0x8003, Error: STATUS_PIPE_BROKEN"
(Wireshark output from the PCAP dump)
Anyone have a clue on why this kinda, sorta works?
The PDC is running 2003 SP2.
Searching the list yielded very little fruit.

IAX Passing Variables
Well, this kinda sux.
We have three Asterisk servers. Phones register to a single, primary server.
When a phone on one wants to reach a phone on another, we use DUNDi to discover the destination pbx and IAX to transfer the call to the other Asterisk box. This seems to be a fairly common practice amongst Asterisk u...

[LLVMdev] Kinda noob questions
Hi all,
I have 2 simple questions...
First, just for you to know, I'm making a compiler (kinda obvious) and the
language definition is mine, so there is no much constraint for me, it's
written in Java (it generates a .ll file as output) and it's just for fun by
now, maybe a serious project after I learn all the stuff needed...
and sorry bad english

dracut-initqueue timeout with virt-install... but it works (kinda?)
Hello,
I?m using virt-install to build a guest system with CentOS. The system boots up, times out with dracut-initqueue timeout and drops me into an emergency shell. If I exit the shell the install continues and I get a working machine.
Any ideas?

Backward compatibility issues in 0.24.0
...39;'t specify relationships to builtin resources
when the client is 0.23.x, although specifying relationships to
defined resources still works.
The problem is that prior to 0.24.0 there was no central class
normalizing resource references, which meant that every class that
handled them kinda got to pick its own standards. Sometimes types
were capitalized, sometimes not, sometimes they had to be, sometimes
it didn''t matter, etc. In 0.24.0, I provided a consistency class
(lib/puppet/resource_reference.rb) and I use that everywhere.
However, this consistency breaks in...

Hello
I got Anime studio pro 8 succesfully installed under wine, but on startup i get this
[Image: http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/784/animestudiostartup.png ][/img]
I can't click away the popup, and have to force a quit. Does anyone know how to get it working?
Thanks;

How did you do that? I think I'm absolutely stupid as I don't understand how to use wine..it seems to me absolutely difficult.

new mysql installation, kinda stuck
I installed centos 6 as a webserver. It installed mysql.
However, I guess I need mysql-server for me to use it for php and my
website.
I installed that.
I am unable to give root a password and can go no further.
I have tried mysql-secure-installation and I just get stuck at errors
and no progression.
I have tried mysqladmin -u root password <password> and the accompanying

[LLVMdev] Kinda noob questions
Thank you John and John :P
these optimizations (mem2reg and the "few additional" ones) I have to enable
then or something like this?? (I compile the .ll to .o with the sequence
llvm-as, llc, as)
Yet about dynamic stack allocation, what is (generally) better? to pre alloc
everything at start, or let it be?
Imagine this pseudo-code
while (x) {
int b = 0;
...
}
using alloca where b

OT (kinda): Justification for adding Asterisk to the business plan
Greetings all,
I'm trying to build a justification case to get the firm I work for to start
working with Asterisk more. How could I build this case?
The argument I'm raising is that people need phones. PBX systems are too
expensive for fewer options and less expansion capabilities. Leveraging
Asterisk in the business plan would allow for more consulting revenue and
resale

Yes, true, but this is the nature of the beast. It (Asterisk) is an
infinitely configurable platform that runs on anything. This essentially

Diff tool for OSX
I''ve looked for DIFF tools for OSX but haven''t found anything good
yet. Tried guiffy (http://www.guiffy.com) but it''s very slow and the
folder comparison doesn''t indicate a change until you drill down to
the level with the difference which kinda defeats the purpose.
I''m missing TortoiseSVN and the diff tool that comes with it. Any
suggestions for similar tools for OSX?
Thanks

Changing the centos name on boot
I am kinda getting a tweaked distrubution with CentOS, So this is kinda
rebranding. I am not trying to change the hostname, trying to change the
System OS name in the on boot screen.
I have changed the grub configuration file and it reflects in the Boot OS
selection screen, login screen. But only in the on b...

Naive suggestions for (kinda) funding
First of all, don't shoot me if I got some things wrong.
I personally recommend (without much success :-)) to buy from www.cheeplinux.com (Definite Software), because I believe this is of some help to the CentOS project. At least, to some people involved in it (please correct me if I'm wrong).
