High load averages with latest kernel and USB drives?
I'm having a server report a high load average when backing up Postgres
database files to an external USB drive. This is driving my loadbalancers all
out of kilter and causing a large volume of network monitor alerts.
I have a 1TB USB drive plugged into a USB2 port that I use to back up the
production drives (which are SCSI). It's working fine, but while doing backups
(hourly) the load average on the server shoots up from the normal 0.5 - 1.5 or

Tuning MoH Volume
...on hold, the volume of the hold music in the
callers ear is extremely loud. I'm using the default entry from the
musiconhold.conf:
default => quietmp3:/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3
Volumes with a called or calling party are fine, it's just the hold
music volume that seems to be way off kilter.
Anyone know if it's possible to do any fine tuning of the volume?

Trying to Unpack the RC2 source code release
Hi
I'm trying to unzip the source code for the Speex Encoder, but I'm not
having much success. I've tried using WinZip (unregistered version 8.0) and
PowerArchive (version 6.1). Neither of them open the files
"speex-1.0rc2.tar.gz" or "refman.tar.gz". What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks
Jim

CentOS-6.6 Fail2Ban and Postfix Selinux AVCs
...re I am not sure what this avc is telling us.
We use Fail2Ban on a number of other Inetenet facing hosts. We have
not yet detected anything similar on those, although until this
morning's descovery we never really looked for this situation
specifically.
To check and see if anything was off kilter in the contexts I ran
restorcon -Rv on /sbin and on /usr and restarted Fail2Ban. When I
reviewed the log file I found these in /var/log/messages.

Forwarded mail....
I was surprised to see that this hadn't made it to the samba list yet.
Note I have not spent any time trying to confirm validity.
