...rg/dev/iproute2/download/iproute2-2.6.X-ss040701.tar.gz
See the ChangeLog for detail but major changes are:
* simple configuration (not autoconf) to deal with different systems
* data rates in "tc" use communication standard K=1000 not K=1024
* also, -iec option and knows about "kibps"
* long style GNU options
* works with "netem" scheduler
* additional options on the ip command (to match ifconfig)
This should build and work on 2.6, and 2.4.

Max Icecast Listeners
I am curious if anyone has had enough experience to know --> how many
simultaneous listeners can be supported by typical server boxes,
assuming unlimited bandwidth is available?
My specific case:
My server (http://www.AirProgressive.org) is on a Linux VPS server
located in a datacenter and on a optical backbone so that bandwidth is
not the problem. Each connection I am running is at 32kbps

[ANNOUCE] iproute2 update
A new version of the iproute2 utilities is available to handle the new
extensions for 2.6.7.
* Based on the last known good version of iproute2 from Alexy
* Included most of the vendor patches (except for the stupid ones).
* Got rid of lots of the glibc workarounds, I intend this to build
and run on 2.6 (and 2.4) only.
* Fixed some parsing and formatting bugs.
* Added gigabit as a rate.

HTB and PRIO qdiscs introducing extra latency when output interface is saturated
Im using a Linux machine with standard pc hardware with 3 seperate PCI
network interfaces to operate as a DiffServ core router using Linux
traffic control. The machine is a P4 2.8ghz, 512mb RAM running fedora
core 3 with the 2.6.12.3 kernel. All links and network interfaces are
full duplex fast ethernet. IP forwarding is enabled in the kernel. All
hosts on the network have their time sychronised
