I'm in the process of beginning to set up Samba with the aid of the book Special Edition Using Samba. The problem that I have is that I cannot get the service to run. I am using Red Hat 7.2 - kernel 2.4.9-13. I modified the smb.conf file and get the following when running the "testparm" command: Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf Processing section "[homes]"

I am setting up Samba between a Windows XP and Fedora Core 2 machine but the FC2 machine is not showing in network neighborhood although I have run the commands below on the FC2 box with no errors. On a recommendation from this list I checked the junklog file, the output from which I attached below. It looks as if it does not even see the linux machine as it indicates not seeing "explorer" which is the local netbios name. The Win XP machine does not even show in the log. I am setting up Samba between a Windows XP and Fedora Core 2 machine the FC2 machine is showing in network neighborhood. But when I double click on it I get a permissions error for \\leitrim although I have run the commands below on the FC2 box with no errors. The FC2 box is leitrim and the XP machine is kevinden. I can also ping both ways and am also not able to browse from the FC2 box to the XP
