snapshot merging?
...place outside of
the filesystem (i.e., in physical volume) to make snapshots, which is
not always possible on workstations and some servers.
Is something similar available, or planned, for btrfs? I didn''t find
anything similar on "btrfs design" page in the wiki.

Passive OS fingerprinting and conditional firewalling
Hi all,
there''s an interesting citaton on kerneltrap.org, mentioning the addition of
passive OS fingerprinting to the OpenBSD firewall
(http://www.kerneltrap.org/node/view/770 for those interested)
This new feature enables the possibility of triggering customized firewall
rules according to the (detected) incoming OS, in a fully passive way.

I have been using the nvidia driver although I do not need the 3D
acceleration, just because it was available.
However, a few of days ago I came across this:

http://download2.rapid7.com/r7-0025/
what does this list think about this matter?
I have now reverted to the standard xorg nv driver

File cloning across subvolumes with BTRFS_IOC_CLONE ioctl
It seems that the BTRFS_IOC_CLONE ioctl fails when trying to do a
cross-subvolume clone of a file. Chris Mason suggested in the past ([1])
that this should be possible. Am I missing something?

the record, I''ve been reading and using LARTC for almost 3 years now, and

It looks suspiciously like this bug:

Could it be that there now is a special case (as per the suggested

gre-encapsulated non-vlan frames isn't being handled properly?
Hope this makes sense to someone in here...

CentOS x64 crashed
I just installed CentOS 4.2 x64 bit version. After installaton, the
system boots but kernel panics with this message:
Badness in i8042_panic_blink at drivers/input/serio/i8042.c:992
The kernel seems to load completely. It gets passed the point where
it prompts to press "I" for interactive mode. Something after that
probably caused a module to load that crashed the kernel.
Any idea

wan hdlc_ppp and IPv6
Hi list,
I can successfully build the driver modules; hdlc, dlci, syncppp, and lmc
from the 2.6.18-128.1.14 kernel source rpm, and have managed to
create a 'wan kmod' rpm. It all works fine for IPv4, but now I need
IPv6 for ppp connections, which doesn't work for me.
I think I'll need to back port Krzysztof Halasa's 'ppp for generic hdlc'
patches to the
