RPM Unpacking??
Hey there,
I downloaded the Kernel Source 2.2.17 from the ext3 site, however I can't
seem to figure out how these rpm's work (I don't like RPM's and I rather
not use em either :-( no offense :-)) and I kinda miss the good old simple
.tgz files which show me where they extract and I can compile myself n
stuff.
Anyways I tried rpm -iv <package name> then some stuff happened

[Bug 10037] New: do_mknod fails to create socket file
...ddr.sun_path, pathname, sizeof saddr.sun_path);
It copies pathname into sun_path without any length checking. The function
strlcpy truncates in my case the path because sun_path is limited to 108
characters on at least Solaris/Illumos. Maybe this is a problem on Linux as
well (see also:
http://www.kernelsources.org/source/xref/illumos-gate/usr/src/uts/common/sys/un.h#55
and for Linux
http://www.kernelsources.org/source/xref/linux/include/uapi/linux/un.h#10). The
bind() call succeeds (to be honest, I don't really know why. Probably the
truncated path exists as well) and then do_mknod() calls do_chmod()...

pxelinux kernel 2.4.20 nfs server is not asked
...out half a year at my lan.
Hi,
When I use a kernel v.2.4.20 the pxe boot loads the pxefiles, kernel and
then stops asking for files from the server and complains about a
"Root-NFS: No NFS server available, giving up." and messages about to
insert a disk...
... the same .config used with kernelsources 2.4.19 boots fine without
problems (getting root fs over nfs).
I have searched about the origin, weather it is the kernel 2.4.20 or the
syslinux version I use, but couldn't solve it.
Can you provide me with information concerning this problem?
cheers,
Sascha

Can´t compile the source!
Hi
tody I tried to compile the source an downloaded the two folders
asterisk and libpri from the CVS tree into /usr/src.
Then I changed the path to the libpri and made make clean; make install.
Everything worked fine.
After that I changed the path to /usr/src/asterisk and made also make clean
and make install.
After some time I got an error:

Error compiling zaptel
Hi,
On my Suse90-out of box I had downloaded from CVS asterisk.
I'm running kernel 2.4.21-99-smp4g with 4cpu's, and the kernelsource is in
/usr/src/linux
Asterisk compiles with no problem.
But when compiling zaptel I got this error
..........

pv_ops kernel and nvidia binary driver
Just wondering what it will take to get the nvidia binary driver
working on a pv_ops kernel.
It makes it difficult to debug without the source to the nvidia
driver, but I think it should be possible to get it to work without
changing the binary driver. If the dom0 kernel had access to all the
resources that a bare metal kernel did, then it should work right?

with them. The test setup and results are below.
I've also added the instrucions i used to compile wine
At the end of this mail i have a list of all packages i've compiled. As i run
lfs-5.0 this might be usefull.
