Serial ports: vm vs bare metal
...panying this in either the
journal or in audit.log. It's not a selinux issue. The "Details"
dropdown in the error dialog helpfully adds "USB redirection error".
What do I do with this error message? I'm not even sure what it's
trying to tell me.
Thanks,

And in either of the above cases, "libvirt-socket-helper" would parse
the environment and the libvirtd configuration as necessary and
ultimately act like "nc -U /path/to/some/socket".

virsh not connecting to libvertd ?
Just found my issue.
After I removed the cephfs mounts it worked!
I will debug ceph.
I assumed because I could touch files on mounted cephfs it was working.
Now virsh list works!
thanks

virsh attach device equivalent in libvirt API
Hi,
Is there an equivalent of "virsh attach-device -live -persistent " within libvirt API :
virDomainAttachDevice() or virDomainAttachDeviceFlags() or ???
Thanks for help.

Ah, this is on F23, which has:
libvirt-1.2.18.2-2.fc23.x86_64
There's nothing more recent right now in either updates or
updates-testing (and I was hoping to target (RHEL/CentOS)7, which have
libvirt-1.2.17-13.el7_2.2.x86_64).
Thanks,

Convincing libvirt to create a bridge device?
...onflicts with local networks.
I look at the various interface-related commands, and there is an
"iface-bridge" command but this requires a physical interface.
Is there any way to convince libvirt to create the bridge device for a
<forward mode='bridge'/> network?

Limitations of macvtap devices?
...nside the guest eth0 is attached to a bridge.
Is that correct, or is there some setting that will make that work?
Outbound traffic doesn't seem to be a problem (I can see, for example,
dhcp requests on the local network), but replies get dropped before
they reach the guest.
Thanks,

Documentation on the subject seems to indicate that this shouldn't be an
issue... the tough part is supposed to be browsing, but I can't start
tackling that issue until I'm join to the domain in the first place.
Thanks for any assistance,

libvirtd vs XDG_RUNTIME_DIR

a qemu process running for your guest but it's not showing up in

I don't know if there's a good solution to this, but the failure mode
is really non-obvious.

Well, that certainly solves my problem with vol-download :). Do you
know if that fix is likely to show up in EL7?

If I downgrade to libvirt-1.2.18.2-2.fc23.x86_64 (which is what
actually ships in F23), the image upload completes without a problem.
