Permission problem in message command with guest ftp user
....com So, keeping things simple, I just changed mutt to mail in my message command, and now all it fine. I could have changed permission and ownership on mutt, but, it it working fine, so, why mess with it. At least I now know why the mail boxes must be in group mail! I suspect that a command like kedit %s would fail too, because ftp wouldn't have permissions, unless added by xhost +ftp, to write to the xserver. I think I just posted to a "newbie" that permissions are 1/3 of the grief of linux. Maybe I should have said 80%. I JUST WISH I could have found this error reflected in some...

Suse 9 Konqueror/Samba problem
...ith..) I got the error 1) Access denied to smb://server/share/file.txt" if I try to open file.txt resident on a W2K server or 2) File or Directory smb://server/share/filextxt" do not exist if I try to open file.txt resident on Linux (Samba) server. I notice that when I choose open (with Kedit by example) the file, a windows appear that seems to download the file to /tmp/kde-myuser and create the file with a temporary name. After that I get the error, but If I browse this directory I can find the temp file, open and edit it. Be aware that all works (Samba server) If I open file txt...

DHCP
Good day to all. I don''t like to Post unless I am really stuck. Guess what? Redhat with Shorewall. Been using this for years. I have a new client that we have setup with Redhat and Shorewall. The problem is that his outside address (ETH0 = NET) is dynamic (i.e. DHCP enabled). All the rules work fine when we use a STATIC address on Eth0, so we know the rules, filters, tos etc work fine

Syntax coloring in R console
Dear all, I am a happy user of R console, but I would like to see syntax coloring. I use R 2.12 in Ubuntu Linux. I have found the packages "xterm256" and "highlight", but I was not able to figure out how to use it to highlight the syntax in console output. Also, I tried several GUI interfaces, but I was not able to find something that suits me better than the default R
