how to debug random server reboots
Hi all,
One of our CentOS 5.3 randomly reboots, at different times of the day,
and I can't see why it's doing it.
I have looked through the logs, but don't see any thing in there that
shows me why it has rebooted. How can I debug this?
Here's a snipped from the log, around the time of the reboot:

Samba 3 and Windows 2003 Active Directory
Hi all,
Thanks is advance for any help you can offer -
I just inherited a Samba file server in my new position, and am familiar
with Samba, but no genius in it. The problem is that we need to upgrade
our Windows 2003 domain, and our Samba server - version 3.0.10-1.4E
won't connect to a Windows 2003 active directory. So, we have to leave a
Windows 2000 DC running to authenticate to it.

Numlock
We have encountered an anomaly that appears to be related somehow to
Samba. When users are moved to the new domain hosted by Samba4.3 then
the numlock on their keyboards is always turned off when they log onto
the domain regardless of its previous setting. This in itself is just
a nuisance. However we have an application called SnetTerm, an ssh
client, which will not recognise the numlock at

Using pki/ssl/tls connection.
I am thinking of using tls connection between my client and server
instead of current ssh.
I found
https://libvirt.org/kbase/tlscerts.html and I want to know if it is
possible to customise some setting (e.g. use my own cert names, or
locations)
but I was not able to.
Moreover
https://github.com/libvirt/libvirt/blob/44520f6e01580d6bada88b47e5b77e6bee023ac6/src/rpc/virnettlscontext.c

Maybe you can find your answer at:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/WindowsNT/RegistryTips/Disable/Disablecachingofroamingprofiles.html
There hou can read:
If you want roaming profiles to not include certain folders, you can
exclude them. Excluding internet temporary files, cookies, and outlook
files can keep the roaming profile small. To exclude fo...

Bond Issues
I have a machine I just deployed w/ tg3 interfaces, I have setup bonding
on this same line of server (HP DL380 G4) a million times. I saw there were
changes recently to how you configure a bond and have my setup configured
according to: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-7431
The HP switch has a LACP trunk defined on the two ports. Problem is, when
rebooting, I need to issue a `service network restart` to gain connectivity?
There is nothing in messages that looks wrong? Anyone have an idea?

Centos 5 and Driver Disks
Hi,
I am trying to install CentOS 5.2 on a Dell PowerEdge R905, and a
problem that you run into is that the DVD Drive on the system is not
recognized by the kernel.
I have done some searching on the web and found
http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_103_13121.shtm and obtained the driver
disk that it mentions.
Having followed the instructions I can see and select the driver disk
image but the install thinks there are no appropriate drivers in the image.
Can someone please confirm or deny that I should be able to use a Re...

Backing up CentOS
Can anyone suggest a good open source/free backup software that works on
CentOS? I was reading through the manuals on how to back things up and it
said do 1 of 2 things. Buy a 3rd party software packages or make one from
source. Well I have no clue how to do the 2nd option and I don't want to
spend any money so I figured I would as you gurus. BTW I am newb so easier
the software the better.

Help with external snapshots as backups
Hi,
I have a win10 guest on a fedora32 system and have some questions as I
explore using external snapshots as a form of backup in case of a
Windows failure (as in, it won't boot or is completely irrecoverable) as
well as revision control (to be able to rollback changes after a failed
app install, etc).
The first hit on Google for external snapshots involves a RHEL7 document
