APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown
...that often a replacement UPS costs only slightly more than the replacement battery for the old one,
as I found out after trying this procedure.
thanks,

patch for old APC Smart-UPS 600
.../* CS 350 */
{ "5.4.D", "\1ABPQRSUYbdfgjmnx9", 0 },
I understand that it is a clumsy way to make it work but it was the easiest
for me.
I am not sure how many more old Smart-UPS 600 are still in use and if it's
worth including into NUT.
Thanks,

NUT + OpenBSD + dc2500cc + APC Smart-UPS SC620 = problem
...er 3.2 (2.7.1)
I suspect there is something special with serial ports on d2500cc motherboard
as I also tried, out of curiousity, apcupsd from OpenBSD ports, and it failed
to detect the UPS either.
I wonder if anybody else has successfully run NUT on d2500cc motherboard with
serial UPS?

/dev/ttyS0 permissions problem
I am having trouble installing
nut-2.0.2-1.x86_64.rpm
nut-client-2.0.2-1.x86_64.rpm
the service run as nut:nut, but /dev/ttyS0 is owned by root:uucp
I can chown nut:nut /dev/ttyS0, but the owner changes on reboot.
/etc/security/console.perms looks like to me that it only applies to user
logins
I have searched the web & found several how-tos, but most are at least a
year old and do not

APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown
?I've been using nut on an APC Back-UPS 750 for several years with no problem, seeing the walled "UPS on battery power"
messages during short 1-2 minute outages. This is connected with the original USB cable that came with the unit.
After replacing the battery recently, nut always triggers a shutdown when AC power is cut off, even if only for 1 minute.
I see that the data fields

I would like to build a list of the user names and configuration file locations
for the most common distributions which include NUT. So far I have:
Distrib User Config directory
debian nut /etc/nut/
opensuse upsd /etc/ups/
These will be used to produce more user-friendly tools and documentation for
NUT. If you use some other distribution, could you report
