PLEASE HELP Adit 600 went kaput?
After months of setting up Asterisk. I completed the final testing last night We would go live on Monday. Or so I thought. As I moved the Adit 600 back out of the way, sliding it six inches. I noticed the major light was red as were both T1 and T2 lights ( eventhough only one t1 port is being used ) -- I have no idea what these lights mean or if they were lit before when things were working.

Mac OS X and R
My Windows machine has gone "kaput" and I am trying to see how R might work on my Mac. I am interested in using the contributed packages, especially "waveslim" and "wavethresh". Are all packages available under either Windows, Mac, or Unix? I can't seem to tell from the documentation whether this is...

Strange corruption problem with Win7
Hello, I am running Samba 4.0.1 as AD DC. I have configured GPOs for redirecting folders (Application Data, Documents etc.). Yesterday, there was a strange problem. The network switch suddenly went kaput and all machines lost connection to the DC. Users logged off and when they are trying to start machine today, Windows 7 can not start. Few of the machines had restore points for day before yesterday and they could be restored. All others are in the need of re-installation. Has anyone faced such k...

Pidgin problem on 5.2
...ny .service files and the terminal does not return to a prompt. there is no visible window for Pidgin, but parts of it may be running, as I heard the sound that (I think) means "buddy comes online". running "ps ax | grep -y pidgin" returns one process, so it's not entirely kaput. Anyone else seem this, or anyone have suggestions? Oh, also, I've recently enabled "desktop effects". I think I'll disable that and see if it helps. -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ----------------------------- I can do all things...

Experiencing continual eth0 link up/down on a 10G Chelsio NIC (cxgb3 driver)
...wn eth0: link up, 10Gbps, full-duplex eth0: link down eth0: link up, 10Gbps, full-duplex The kernel RPM verification shows no errors # uname --kernel-release 2.6.18-164.2.1.el5.plus # rpm --verify kernel-2.6.18-164.2.1.el5.plus The hardware vendor tells me that the card either fails completely (kaput) or works - there is no grey area. He is of the opinion that the problem is with the driver. Verification of the kernel rpm tells me that all files including the cxgb3 driver file md5sum are OK. I would like to hear from anyone with the same NIC or another rev. using the same driver. Are you...

Socket behavior change from 6.5 to 6.6
...is that this has something to do with non-ephemeral ports and > socket reuse, but I'm not sure what. If you want a quick detection that the link is dead, have the server occasionally send bytes to the dos box. You will get an immediate error if the dos box is up and knows that connection is kaput. Given that the port numbers of the new connection are the same, I'm kind of surprised that the behavior changed from 6.5 to 6.6, but, I always use defensive programming (sending those extra bytes). -- greg

You will get an immediate > error if the dos box is up and knows that connection is kaput. What if I am sending bytes to the DOS box, but it never reads the socket? (Let us assume, for the sake of argument, that I can't change the DOS box software. In fact, I can, but it's more difficult than changing the Linux end.) Won't that either result in my detecting the socket as &q...

AD Backup Best Practice
...mmends "that you restore the domain > database into a different targetdir, and then use the '-s' option > when running samba". OK, re-read the wiki-page and I do not understand why you have to do this ? Tim, Why do you have to do this ? I would image that, unless the DC is kaput, Samba will be the only thing that needs fixing. Most sysadmins would just clear out the Samba dirs and then carry out the restore. I can understand renaming the DC, but why does it have to be a new install ? > > > > You shouldn't have to do '4', the backup contains a c...

libvirt, lxc, "/dev/log" ENOENT
...ll can't log into the account from "virsh console". I thought that maybe I was unable to authenticate because the "login" process cannot log success/failure to /dev/log. However, I know from experience that on other Gentoo systems I can login as root even when syslog-ng is kaput, and /dev/log does not exist. "/etc/pam.d" inside the container is byte-for-byte the same as my host system, and I can authenticate as root from the physical console. I have a few main questions: 1) Is my domain configured correctly? 2) Why is the container unable to write to th...

Recover RAID
Hello Everyone, First time CentOS poster :) I have CentOS 4 installed on the head node of a Sun Gridengine cluster set up in a RAID. The head node has four hard drives, and I assume that drives 1 and 2 are in a raid and then drives 3 and 4 are in another raid. I was trying to expand the OS partition on drive 1 because it was full. I took drive 1 out, put it in my Fedora 8 box as a secondary
