RELENG_7 jerky mouse and skipping sound
I just updated to RELENG_7 from 6.2 and I'm running into some really annoying issues with jerky mouse movement and skipping sound. This seems to be similar to: Re: SCHED_4BSD in RELENG_7 disturbs workflow This happens both with 4BSD and ULE. I seems to happen when I'm compiling ports and a new cc/bzip2/sh process fires off (I'm just watching top), I'll get the skip/freezeup.

port of vorbis encoder to non-fpu archs
...is encoder to run on a MIPS32 architecture. There is a payment for whoever can make this happen. The main motivation comes from an art project (so is the funding) All credits will go to whoever is able to improve the code and makes the port as a package .ipk for the openwrt firmwares (preferably kamikaze). Please get in touch if you think this is possible and achivable in the next month. regards, /alejo

tinc and wireless mesh
Hello! I'm trying to make a wireless mesh network with b.a.t.m.a.n. protocol, and I would like to secure the wireless links with tinc. My test network is 2 wireless routers with OpenWRT Kamikaze firmware, and the network topology is the following: |CLIENT|eth0: 192.168.180| <--> |eth0: 192.168.1.1|MESH-NODE|ath0: 192.168.5.54| <~~> |ath0: 192.168.5.51|GW|eth1: 192.168.1.51| <--> |INTERNET|...

installing crossbuilds
Back before the 7.0 Release I used to install cross builds by NFS-mounting /usr/src and /usr/obj of the build machine on the target machine and running: # cd /usr/src # env MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX=/usr/obj/<stuff> make installkernel KERNCONF=<kernconf> ... This doesn't work any more because all the installation tools are built for the architecture of the build system. The alternative

Celtenc not working in 0.9.1
Hi, I'm currently testing libcelt (celt-0.9.1) on my Openwrt/Kamikaze RDC-3210 platform and although I'm able to Crosscompile on my Ubuntu 10.10 machine without errors, the resulting celtenc doesn't seem to work properly. Ran ./configure via the Openwrt makefile first (activating fixed-point) ; I first produce a S16_LE Raw PCM file (48Khz, stereo) : test...

Kernel not mounting root
Hi all, I did cvsup to 7-STABLE yesterday, build, installed and booted a new kernel then buildworld. Then I noticed that my PS/2 keyboard is not working at the loader menu so I booted multiuser and did the make installworld part from there. Then I tried to reboot but now it hangs after the line Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/ad4s1a It sits there for at least 10min. I tried so far: -

Distro ready out of the box
hi all, I''m writing not for technical problems but for a simple question. Do You know if there is a distro which is ready for traffic shaping etc. ''out of the box''? I mean a distro which does not require patching the kernel and/or iptables and/or installing from source etc. and gives the user most of the tools needed (imq, ipp2p, l7filter and so on). many thanks

Crosscompile error tinc => 1.0.11 on openwrt whiterussian 0.9
Hello! I try to maintain a couple off old Openwrt based routers. The routers run openwrt whiterussian, so it quite outdated. But it is a little dangerous to update a remote machine from whiterussian to kamikaze or backfire, this may be usefull for others. I used the openwrt whiterussian 0.9 sdk and the attached Makefile to compile all tinc versions till 1.0.11. Since 1.0.11 the compile process fails in net.c at line 470: mipsel-linux-uclibc-gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.. -I../lib -I/home/frithjof/wrt/whiteru...

utf-8 support in libc?
Reading thru one of the postgres mailing lists regarding which character encoding to use for a database, someone chimed in and claimed this: Umm, you should choose an encoding supported by your platform and the locales you use. For example, UTF-8 is a bad choice on *BSD because there is no collation support for UTF-8 on those platforms. On Linux/Glibc UTF-8 is well supported but you

Recover RAID
Hello Everyone, First time CentOS poster :) I have CentOS 4 installed on the head node of a Sun Gridengine cluster set up in a RAID. The head node has four hard drives, and I assume that drives 1 and 2 are in a raid and then drives 3 and 4 are in another raid. I was trying to expand the OS partition on drive 1 because it was full. I took drive 1 out, put it in my Fedora 8 box as a secondary
