built openssh-3.2.2p1 for solaris 2.7, 2.8. ssh works fine, but the sshd is not
usable. Login proceeds past the password stage, then sometimes hangs. If not
hung, then su fails.
/var/adm/messages (login hung) says

Same issue with Solaris 8 built with gcc 2.95.2 with the following configure
options:
--without-rsh --with-tcp-wrappers --with-pam --disable-suid-ssh
--with-prngd-socket
--with-default-path=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin
