htb: HowTo identify squid cache hits
...to identify cache hits from misses? I took a look at the advanced filtering chapter of course, but am really dazzled by that (and I thought I understood TCP/IP a bit ;)). Some further info that would perhaps help is that squid is run as a transparant proxy on the router/firewall. regards Peter Kaagman -- "His great aim was to escape from civilization, and, as soon as he had money, he went to Southern California."

HTB: re-init
..."tc filter del dev eth1" or "tc class del dev eth1" (in lots of variations) I get a response from RTNETLINK stating "No such file or directory". So what I am doing now is rebooting whenever I change the settings... There must be a better way.... plz!? regards Peter Kaagman -- Antonym, n.: The opposite of the word you''re trying to think of.

Sharing bandwidth
Hi there, I''ve got the following problem on my hand..... I''m a sysop for a school in the netherlands. We have a network with 5 different schools (and 1 administration). Each of those have their own ip range in the private network (10.4.0.0 10.5.0.0 and so on). For all these schools we have an internet uplink of 2mbit. And this bandwidth should be shared as fairly as possible.

Samba and quotas
...e another file in the shell because the quota is exceeded. So quotas are still in effect. I've not been able to find any information on this option to solve this behavior. So if anyone could point me in the right direction (or even have a solution on the boilerplate :-) ) ? tc: Trying to understand what I have done
...ic from the router in the DMZ class because I do not want it in class 1:10 or one of its sub-classes. So my question would be: Does this script do the things I described above? Could I not better leave those DMZ rules out because 1:20 is the default class anyway? Samba and file locking
...handled by explorer anymore. I.e. it can not be deleted or opened (by Acces in this case). At the moment I've got a cronjob in place restarting samba every morning to remove these locks. But the I cannot escape the thought that there must be a better way to solve this problem. regard Peter Kaagman -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

Got stuck when a traffic shapping script
Hi there list, I got stuck when making tc rules to divide bandwidth between RDP client and the rest of our Internet traffic. Given the following problem: We have a school with around 900 students and staff in a temporary location (an old wodka factory ;)) on around 100 workstations. The maximum bandwidth we could get was 1536 kbit. So we decided to let the staff work in our normal network via
