Missing rpms for samba-ldap script
I was pointed to: http://web.vcs.u52.k12.me.us/linux/smbldap/ As an effective script to get samba/ldap configured for a PDC. It is written for Fedora 3 core or the K12LTSP distro. of course I discovered this after installing the Centos distro. Now it is decision time: stay with Centos and get this working or move the the K12 distro. This setup is for the small business network in my basement (really quite extensive, a rack full of servers and workstations!). When...

Wine-20040213 with K12ltsp Fedora 4.0.1
I'm posting this both places since I don't know whether it is Fedora or Wine that is causing the problem. The windows program involved is Integrade Pro V9.0 (IGPRO) I have a Compaq machine which has the following: K12LTSP-Fedora 4.0.1 128 Meg Ram 550 MHz processor Here is the problem; under K12ltsp 3.1.2 with wine-20031118 IGPRO works with out any problems. With Fedora 4.0.1 and either wine-20031118 or wine-20040213 the instalation goes okay and as long as the system has not been powered down IGPRO works as des...

samba-vscan-clamav -realtime file scanning on Samba server
Hello List, I posted on the K12LTSP wiki an howto on how to setup samba-vscan-clamav on a Samba file server. This maybe should be on the samba wiki, but I think it would apply to most folks here using K12LTSP, as well. It takes about 15 minutes to setup and have working. I did post a link to download a precompiled module for this tha...

Some repo fancy footwork?
I am looking at K12LTSP-EL5 which is Centos 5 based. Supposedly their disc2 maps to Centos 1of6 and so forth. I have a repo of the Centos 5.1 isos: /centos/5/os/i386 The question is can I put the K12LTSP disc 1 in a directory: /centos/k12ltsp-el5/i386 then with some logical link magic make this directory appear...

2 DHCP server in one subnet
Hello all, In the network there is already a W2K server serving as DHCP server for the network. Then we want to implement LTSP, so we need to setup another DHCP server, right? Due to unexpected reason (little by little migration of w98 clients to LTSP), we need to keep the W2K server running in that network. Can we then have 2 DHCP server in the same subnet, only serving pre-determine clients

Thin client server setup
Hi, I am thinking of settting up a thin client server setup. I would like to set it up to work with linux and windows. I was going to use Symbiont but it says it needs a different version of linux to install. Has anyone used it with Centos before? Would it be easier to just install LTSP and set it up. I would like to b have a small box that does the dhcp and then allows users to logon to

FWIW...
Good morning, everyone... Perhaps this will either help or encourage others interested in using CentOS as a networked workstation. It is based upon my experiences, and all other disclaimers apply. 1. I did a basic workstation install from 4.1 CD's deploying KDE and Gnome desktops and, other than a few minor issues, mostly of my making, everything went smoothly. The install process is

We now use Kiwi-Ltsp on OpenSuse and

The easiest way for Fedora 14 to Centos 6 migration?
I manage several Fedora 14 servers. They was not upgraded due to several reasons (systemd unreliability, K12LTSP support absence), some newer packages I was building & updating manually, some other (OpenOffice, Mozilla) was possible update from projects binaries. Now I consider the options to migrate them to Centos 6, possibly the easiest possible way. What I'd like is some as yum configuration files...

Hi all, Since September 2006, I've been using a samba PDC (3.0.20) with tdbsam, to authenticate the users of a school network (90 XP boxes). After setup all the config files (smb.conf, nsswitch, system-auth/pam amd pam_mount.conf) and start all services, I can't log in. The error message is "Account disabled by the administrator...

RE: Using the JRE
...bs, namely Reading Counts. We are using version 3 which requires the JRE to run. I cannot seem to get any version of the JRE to install in Wine. As I said I am new to Linux so I'm going to give you the best I can on details, please let me know what else you might need to suggest a solution. K12LTSP Fedora Core 6 Wine 0.9.32 I've been able to make Wine work on both the installed set of programs and a couple others. So I'm fairly confident that it is installed correctly. Below is the terminal output from both the installation of the J2SDK and SRI (scholastic reading inventory). I...
