confidence interval for glm
Hi all, simple Q: how do I extract the upper and lower CI for predicted probabilities directly for a glm - I'm sure there's a one line to do it but I can't find it. the predicted values I get with the predict (.. "response") Thanks Gerard ********************************************************************************** The information transmitted is intended only for

queue simulation
Hi all, I have a multiple queing situation I'd like to simulate to get some idea of the distributions - waiting times and allocations etc. Does R has a package available for this - many years ago there used to be a language called "simscript" for discrete event simulation and I was wondering if R has an equivalent (or hopefully with graphics, something better!). Apologies if there

smbclient (1.9.18p3) dies or needs killing when used for backups (via Amanda)
Has anyone noticed that there appears to be a few problems with regards to Samba and in particular the usage of smbclient, which can do one of the following : 1) Complete & udder death of the NT networking subsystem (which requires a reboot to cure) 2) smbclient appears to lose its connection with the host being contacted and eventually needs to be killed. I'm not too sure how

loglm fitting
Dear all, sorry to bother you all with this but I've been trying to use the loglm in MASS package (v2.8.0) and cannot get any sensible output. I'm wondering am I doing something very foolish or missing something obvious. For example, I tried the documentation help(loglm) example - here's the code # Case 1: frequencies specified as an array. sapply(minn38,

Good Evening,
I contacted Martin Maechler (maechler at stat.math.ethz.ch) and was advised to contact you for input on the question below...thanks! I am very new with the R experience, all I know is that it's computer language & coding... I'm trying to plot a regression graph for runif (100, 1000, 10000). What am I not getting here, I can get the values in R no problem, but no idea how to turn it

Gluster 3.2.6 for XenServer
Hi, I have Gluster 3.2.6 RPM's for Citrix XenServer 6.0. I've installed and mounted exports, but that's where I stopped. My issues are: 1. XenServer mounts the NFS servers SR subdirectory, not the export. Gluster won't do that. -- I can, apparently, mount the gluster export somewhere else, and then 'mount --bind' the subdir to the right place 2. I don't really know

Problem with Active Directory...
Hi, I have some problems with Samba and Active Directory. Here is the beginning of my smb.conf (on Debian) : [global] realm = AC-NANTES.JUSTICE.FR workgroup = AC-NANTES Users from this domain (AC-NANTES) have no problem to log on... Now, I'd like to do the same with another user from another domain : AC.JUSTICE.FR who is in a global security group in AC-NANTES (I use this

deviance in polr method
Dear all, I've replicated the cheese tasting example on p175 of GLM's by McCullagh and Nelder. This is a 4 treatment (rows) by 9 ordinal response (cols) table. Here's my simple code: #### cheese library(MASS) options(contrasts = c("contr.treatment", "contr.poly")) y = c(0,0, 1, 7, 8,8,19, 8,1, 6,9,12,11, 7,6, 1, 0,0, 1,1, 6, 8,23,7,

for loop query
Hi all, apologies if this is obvious - but I can't see it and would appreciate some quick help! the matrix mhouse is 26x3 and I'm computing odds ratios. The simple code below "should" compute the odds vector for every pair (325) i.e. 26C2 in cols 1 and 2. On the first i=1 outer loop the inner j loop runs from 2 to 26 ok and then I get the error (Error: subscript out of bounds)

binomial glm???
Hi everyone, newbee query! I've installed R 2.8.0 and tried to run this simple glm - x is no of cars in a given year, y is the number voted in an election that year while n is the population 18+: votes <- data.frame(x = c(0.62,0.77,0.71,0.74,0.77,0.86,1.13,1.44), + y=c(502,542,711,653,771,806,934,1123), n=

ggridges help
yes, thanks, and I was getting close to that. One thing I found is the manual says the height is the distance above the y-line, which should be, but doesn't have to be positive. In fact, the time series are estimates of a cycle, and has negative values, which unfortunately are not included in my sub-sample. And the negative values are not handled properly (the series disappears for

AR(2) coefficient interpretation
I am a beginner in using R and I need help in the interpretation of AR result by R. I used 12 observations for my AR(2) model and it turned out the intercept showed 5.23 while first and second AR coefficients showed 0.40 and 0.46. It is because my raw data are in million so it seems the intercept is too small and it doesn't make sense. Did i make any mistake in my code? My code is as follows:

RMarkdown question
Hi All: In creating a R Notebook I know that in the text I can link to a (sub) section by using the command: [Header 1](#anchor) and putting the appropriate anchor name at the appropriate header. But can the same be done for code chunks, if the code chunk is named? What I want to do is say that such and such code chunk is an example of how to do something, and have that link to the

SAS Macros for R Users Only
I think SAS Macros has capability to call R, and execute it without it being in the picture anywhere. So you can use SAS Macros in a file called R.sas In this you can create a macro called %Describe that can call R , load Hmisc ,run the describe function Note you will need repeated use of %put in this %describe for the mapping to take place Use %INCLUDE to include that file in all SAS

R under Citrix and access to Lotus notes
Dear All, 1. Does anyone have experience of running R on a server inside a Citrix shell - I'd like to get R onto the server and would be greatful for any tips or direction on the matter. 2. This may seem like a silly question so forgive my ignornace. Most of the data I currently work with is held on a number of Lotus Notes (LN) Databases (well it's called a DB here but it's really a
