rid format in sambaSID

Group creation and ldap
...non-zero. Why is it searching on objectClass and gidNumber, not objectClass and cn? Is there a way to change this behavior or let samba know what the gidNumber should be? Invalid workgroup name in browse list

Cannot Access LDAP when not root...
I'm trying to resolve an issue with Samba and LDAP. I'm using a program called Spider that provides network based rendering using domain logons to controll who can access the renders on the farm. It requires a group called SpiderAdmin to be setup (which I've done) and have added the users into the group. However, the only way that the SpiderAdmin users can access the renders on the

Finding users in trusting/trusted domains

Is windbindd necessary?
Is it necessary? I am also confused as to what it does. If I disable it in the smb.conf file, I can not say I see any difference. I am running 6 XP pro clients, MDK 9.2 as the file server. Best way for exchange?
I have been asked to set up a customer with Exchange 2000. I have tried to convert them, so please don't suggest it. We have 3 boxes we can use to do this with. We want to use Samba 3 as the PDC (ldap backend) and Samba 3 as BDC (ldap backend), with the exchange box as a domain member. Will this work? If not, what is the best way to ensure that : a. We have PDC and BDC for authentication
