Impact of bnetd judgment on Samba?
Just wondering if the decisions in the bnetd case might affect Samba at all? http://www.freedom-to-tinker.com/doc/2004/bnetd_30sep.pdf From my reading, the judge is claiming that because the bnetd authors didn't have permission to reverse engineer the Battle.Net protocol, they breached copyright by reverse engineering it. Apparently in the USA you can waive your legal rights through

Fwd: Re: RSiteSearch, sos, rdocumentation.org, ...?
Don't do anything yet. I may have found the problem by accident. I tried to use the computer from something else, and it was being drastically slowed down by some leftover processes, which turned out to be xlhtml. That is something that converts Excel files. Apparently, some excel files got into the libraries, and they were causing the indexing to hang completely. I am now running everything

Fwd: Re: RSiteSearch, sos, rdocumentation.org, ...?
Hello, All: Jonathan Baron is "giving up" maintaining the RSiteSearch database. This breaks three things: (1) The R Site Search web service that Baron has maintained. (2) The RSiteSearch function in the utils package. (3) The sos package, for which I'm the maintainer and lead author. Might someone else be willing to take these over? For me,

What to do with this data?
Hello, This is not necessarily a question about R, but more about how we should display our data in general. (Will we then use R to do that, once we know what to do ;-) I received good replies about such things in the past on this mailing list so I give it a go. Here's what we did: We showed a fairly large number of subjects search engine queries and different possible search engine

OK. It is sort of fixed and sort of works. We'll keep it for now, but this is not going to work forever. When namazu fails completely I will not have the time to install a new search engine. One option is to use google. For a site like this, I think they will want some money, but I'm not sure, and I do not have the time to deal with it. We have over 10,000 packages now. I wonder if

dvd iso's
Well that didn't work. I got a bootable dvd out of it but the centos installed did not detect the media as having the installation files. It asked for a cd instead of recognizing the dvd. Winiso cannot handle dvd's..:( Anyone have a way to make the centos installer realize all its files are on the dvd instead of looking for three cd's? -- My "Foundation" verse:

[LLVMdev] Building LLVM with cmake on FreeBSD
@Chuck Robey Before you pass judgment on CMake quit using those existing makefiles or the configure scripts. They are NOT GENERATED BY CMAKE. RODBC, Apache, Linux
This may be as much of a Linux Newbie question as an RODBC question. I've managed to get iODBC working on my RedHat 7.2 system. I can load the library and run it as root. However, I would like to be able to run it via Perl and Apache over the web. I'm not sure what I need to change in order to let "nobody" (the user running the scripts off of Apache) load the library. I can
