Impact of bnetd judgment on Samba?
Just wondering if the decisions in the bnetd case might affect Samba at
all?
http://www.freedom-to-tinker.com/doc/2004/bnetd_30sep.pdf
From my reading, the judge is claiming that because the bnetd authors
didn't have permission to reverse engineer the Battle.Net protocol,
they breached copyright by reverse engineering it. Apparently in the
USA you can waive your legal rights through

could rate a query/response pair on a scale from 0 (very bad response) to 10

I think there are different kinds of inflexibility. We will use our collective professional judgment. There are some large-scale design changes that we might decide can happen over time. Whatever we decide to accept, however, needs to be in good shape for what it is and follow our coding conventions.

typo in ?pie
Hello:
The help page for 'pie' includes "judgements"; the standard
spelling does not include "e", as spell checkers have informed me many
times.
... in case someone wants to correct that typo.
Best Wishes,

has said its WinXP PCs were not infected by WannaCry,

M$ has since issued patches for XP.
M$'s patches/updates can be miserable and cause all kinds
of havoc. It is a judgment call on when and how to install
M$'s patches/updates. It is best to make sure you have a good
anti-virus updated and running. Your AV is where most
of your protection comes from, not M$ with its miserable
track record for security. And use a "real" firewall.
This patch is a good.

[LLVMdev] Building LLVM with cmake on FreeBSD
@Chuck Robey
Before you pass judgment on CMake quit using those existing makefiles or the configure scripts. They are NOT GENERATED BY CMAKE. Start by downloading CMAKE from http://cmake.org/ and continue the process outlined in the build instructions that we keep trying to tell you to use and you keep ignoring completely.

RODBC, Apache, Linux
This may be as much of a Linux Newbie question as an RODBC question. I've
managed to get iODBC working on my RedHat 7.2 system. I can load the
library and run it as root. However, I would like to be able to run it via
Perl and Apache over the web. I'm not sure what I need to change in order
to let "nobody" (the user running the scripts off of Apache) load the
library. I can
