3rd party call control / CSTA , JTAPI or TAPI interfaces
...nd calls and then be able to route them to extensions / agents based on my application logic. I know that I may be able to do this using Asterisk Manager API (have not yet looked at it in any depth) or AGI, but was wondering if there is or are there any plans to develop - a standard interface like JTAPI, TAPI (there is an external link on wiki) , CSTA etc that an external application can interface with, as part of the main Asterisk project ? If the Manager API or AGI is the only way, can anyone comment on how it compares with API's like JTAPI (on a good implementation like perhaps Cisco ??)...

Is there an interface (direct or indirect) in Asterisk that can be used by JTAPI to do third party call control and the other functionality supported by JTAPI? Does anyone have an example of such a thing? Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... CTI interface(s) for Asterisk? [REALLY LONG MESSAGE - SORRY]
...the actual hard-phone URI? If so, how do we monitor the "real" agent/station status? In the dreadful old world of proprietary PBXs/Phones, the phone manufacturer sometimes provides a 1st Party CTI interface in the form of a serial or USB connection on the phone, and a CTI driver (TAPI, JTAPI, TSAPI, CCXML, etc.) that runs on the desktop. Since we don't necessarily want to go pestering Grandstream, Snom, Cisco, etc. for CTI interfaces, is there a GOOD, ROBUST, SCALABLE way of doing this ourselves? 2. How about 1st party zaptel (analogue) CTI? Since this is much more along the li...
