Is it possible to create highly customized report in *.xls format by using R/S+?
I remember in one slide of Prof. Ripley's presentation overhead, he
said the most popular data analysis software is excel.
So is there any resource or tutorial on this topic?
Thank you so much!

Rounding problem R vs Excel.

An excellent source of information about the incompetence of Excel
as a statistical package can be found on Jonathan Cryer's web
page at
http://www.stat.uiowa.edu/~jcryer/JSMTalk2001.pdf
Some incredible howlers from their ``help'' pages are given, as
are a number of useful references. (None from the biological
literature however. If David Paul could dig up the reference
mentioned by his biologist friend, it would be useful.)

Excel TDIST and TINV
Hello all...
I am really new to statistics and I am trying to figure out a way to
apply Chauvenet's criterion using the t-distribution on a set of numbers
in perl. I was unable to find a TDIST and TINV function for perl. I am
getting these functions from Excel. So, I figured that I would install
R and call it from perl, overkill for what I need I know. I am having a
hard time figuring

simple question about exporting data...
I just have a simple question. I'm using the predict function, and I get
about 1000 values. Now, how would I make it into a data frame or a list so
that I can easily use Excel to graph the data? Right now, it's in horizontal
lines, and it would be a pain to copy and paste and make it into a vertical
column.
Thanks!

the joy of spreadsheets (off-topic)
Given that we occasionally run into problems with comparing Excel
results to R results, and other spreadsheet-induced errors, I thought
this might be of interest.

Who uses R?
Dear R users,
I have started work in a Statistics government department and I am trying to
convince my bosses to install R on our computers (I can't do proper stats in
Excel!!). They asked me to prove that this is a widely used software (and not
just another free-source, bug infected toy I found on the web!) by suggesting
other big organisations that use it. Are you aware of any reputable
