NUT with openSUSE 13.2
...E have declared TCP-wrappers to be "abandon-ware", but the libwrap package is installed and used by a half dozen programs. In release 13.2 openSUSE compile NUT with the wrappers, but other programs, such as openssh are now stripped of their wrappers. 4. All logging goes to systemd's journalctl - there is no more /var/log/messages. Since journalctl provides extraction by service unit rather than by tag, I wrote a Bash script to extract the lines generated by NUT activity. #! /bin/bash # nut-journal Display NUT activity recorded by journald for # previous complete boot and current...

[Bug 92962] KDE hangs and system freezes while journalctl lists complains of kernel (nouveau). Nvidia graphics
...> cat /dev/kmsg > kmsgresult2.txt cat /dev/kmsg > kmsgresult.txt& modprobe nouveau startx would be one way to go, as `cat` will continue its job until it get killed. And then when you reboot, you can access the file (which hopefully didn't end up corrupted). Maybe `journalctl -k -b -1` will contain all the information as well (given that the previous boot, was one that froze)? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Updating microcode_ctl froze Centos7
...just froze. I could no longer ssh to the machine and the console was just blank. I had to shut down it hard. It came back up seemingly fine. But yum update doesn't work anymore. It says "Error importing repomd.xml from base/7/x86_64: Damaged repomd.xml file" I looked at the logs, but journalctl only shows the latest boot on this machine. So I guess I have three questions - Any idea what happened with the update process? - How can I repair repomd.xml? - How do I configure journalctl to store more boots? /Robin

Server entering Emergency Shell, but continues fine after pressing Enter
...(even before I removed the OnFailure option): In that case, I'd revert the change you made, unlock the root account so that you can use the emergency shell, let the system boot to an emergency shell, and collect the output of "systemctl status initrd-parse-etc.service" and "journalctl -b 0". (You can still do that in the VM, right?)

systemd-journald corruption
I have several recently-installed CentOS 7 servers that keep having systemd-journald corruption (which stops ALL logging, including syslog). Interestingly, they are all spam-scanning servers running amavisd-new (so could be some particular pattern is triggering it). Is there a "supported" way to just cut systemd-journald out of the picture and have log entries go straight to rsyslogd?

Cannot get sftp transfers to log in the systemd journal
...o have sshd write entries into the systemd journal logging sftp transfers. From googling, it seems that one needs to edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config adding this line: Subsystem sftp /usr/lib/ssh/sftp-server -f AUTH -l VERBOSE I can transfer files via filezilla (sftp) but I don't get anything in `journalctl -u sshd` that shows these transfers, just a few lines showing I connected. What am I doing wrong? I am using version 7.2p2 on Arch Linux. Thanks in advance!

yum update (first in a long time) - /var/log/dovecot no longer used
Me again, Another change to my Centos 7.2 system since my 'yum update' yesterday is that /var/log/dovecot is no longer written to. If I do 'systemctl status dovecot' I can see log entries. How can I now do the equiv or 'tail -f <logfile>' Also, why has this changed, and where is it documented?
