Ext3 and LFS - possible? fatal?
Has anyone tried LFS (ie >2G files support) and Ext3 together?
Are there good reasons why this should/should not work?
I see the RH enterprise kernel patch set specifically does not attempt
both lfs and ext3, but the lfs patches themselves touch some reasonably
localised parts of ext2, so I would hope (without having dived in there
to test), that the ext3 changes would mirror that

Hi,
why is there a window between statements "err = ext3_journal_get_write_access(handle, this_bh);" and "ext3_journal_dirty_metadata(handle, this_bh);" ?
In my test, there is an error in journal_dirty_metadata: jh is null
thanks!

Linux kernel crash due to ocfs2
Hello,
we have a pair of IBM P570 servers running RHEL5.2
kernel 2.6.18-92.el5.ppc64
We have Oracle RAC on ocfs2 storage
ocfs2 is 1.4.7-1 for the above kernel (downloaded from oracle oss site)
Recently both servers have been crashing with the following error:
Assertion failure in journal_dirty_metadata() at
fs/jbd/transaction.c:1130: "handle->h_buffer_credits > 0"
kernel BUG in journal_dirty_metadata at fs/jbd/transaction.c:1130!
We get some kind of kernel debug prompt.
the stack is as follows:

unexpected dirty buffer
Hello.
On a server running 2.4.25, I have the two following errors in the
kernel logfile:
Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707)
Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707)
Should I worry about them (disk failure, filesystem damage) ?
Thanks.
As an addition what does the pair '08:11' means ? Is

ext3-0.0.5c released
Hi all,
ext3-0.0.5c is now up at:
ftp.uk.linux.org:/pub/linux/sct/fs/jfs/
and ftp.*.kernel.org:/pub/linux/kernel/people/sct/ext3/
The most important part of this release is the e2fsprogs: e2fsck now
supports the journal changes for metadata-only journaling.
Ted, I've changed around the use of jfs* include files in e2fsprogs
quite heavily here. In each build directory --- the lib/ext2fs

More ext3 fileserver woes ...
Well.... you might remember that I have had problems will my NFS
fileserver that run ext3 with data=journal.
The filesystem corruption now seems too be solved with the patch (plus
amendment) that I posted, so I am happy about that... but there is
more.
I have known for a while that ext3 doesn't behave very well when the
journal fills up. If it finds that the journal is full, and the

[PATCH 0/3] ocfs2: Switch over to JBD2.
ocfs2 currently uses the Journaled Block Device (JBD) for its
journaling. This is a very stable and tested codebase. However, JBD
is limited by architecture to 32bit block numbers. This means an ocfs2
filesystem is limited to 2^32 blocks. With a 4K blocksize, that's 16TB.
People want larger volumes.
Fortunately, there is now JBD2. JBD2 adds 64bit block number support
and some other
