newbie q on activerecord - has_one and has_many on same table?
Hi I have a table where I need to identify one of the children as the "prime" child. So, its like: Parent has_many :Child has_one: Child :as :prime_child (?) or something like that? Do I put something like prime_child_id in the Parent table? Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" group. To post to this

Well, I found the C interface a little bit easier to understand, so I ended up using that instead of continuing to try to figure out the C++ interface. You can retrieve it from the unstable archive and it

Verso Call Manager
...m hearing theres incompatabilites, but I can not get anything directly from Verso themselves. Their Call Manager is supposed to support XTens softphones, so I would think that asterisk would work fine. [Bridge] Bridging a wireless/wired LAN and a PPPoE connection
Hi all, I'm trying out bridging for my wireless and wired LAN, so that they can both use my PPPoE connection. Here's the network structure, pretty easy: darjeeling (192.168.1.7) ringo (192.168.1.3) (mtu 1500) (mtu 1500) \ / \ wlan0 <--br0 (mtu 1500)--> eth1

smbfs pc-netlink problem
...never ends and the resulting file grows until it takes up all the space on the destination drive. If it's a text file, and I try to cat it, the process hangs. An ls -l of the file does show the proper file size. I have smbfs 3.0.10-1 installed. I'm running Linux version 2.6.8-1-386 (joshk@trollwife) (gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-2)) #1 Connecting to the same share via a Smbclient //machinename/Share Allows me to navigate to, and get the files just fine. Accessing these shares from Windows boxes works just fine. I'm completely stumped, and this is a show stopper for...

reading vorbis comments with FLAC++?
Well, I'm quite frankly stumped. I'm writing a program that recurses into directories and reads (among others) FLAC files and should be able to read the vorbis comments ARTIST and TITLE from the file. A while back, I was popen()ing to metaflac, because I didn't want to mess with libFLAC. But now, it's the weekend, so I can mess around with this. Here's the code in question:

[PATCH 0/5] Debian patches for 1.1.3
Hi Josh, Here are all the patches that are currently applied to the Debian packages for flac. You may disagree with some of them but as the current maintainer, I'm submitting them all for your consideration. (I should've submitted them earlier, but I've been quite busy. Sorry!) Here is a listing of the patches that I'll be sending: Patch 1 fixes a simple typo in metaflac

Bridging two subnets selectively using routing
Hi LARTC, I have two networks that I manage, A and B. They both have their own primary gateways for hosts on the network, let''s call them AR and BR. There is another box, A1, which lives on network A but also has a wire connecting it to a switch on network B. My goal is to let hosts on B access three particular hosts on A''s subnet (192.168.4.0/24) and let hosts on A access one
