Lost connection..
Short update: It seems that the workers go into some state in which they do not have a correct Rails environment (or db connection). When they enter this state it goes wrong all the time :( Joost Hietbrink (YelloYello) wrote: > Hi all, > > We''re experiencing some problems with Backgroundrb. > > Why is "# master_reactor_instance.result_hash = {}" commented in > packet_master.rb? WINE With Some Joost....
I was wondering if it would be possible for WINE to officially support the online TV client JOOST (www.joost.com)? Some time ago someone had patched WINE to be able to run it but of course this way you really couldn't update WINE at all. There are many people on the Joost forums asking for a Linux version, but there doesn't seem to be anything going on in this area with the developers...

File descriptor leak (?) in Python
...is a long-running process, and I am seeing the number of open file descriptors to the Xapian database steadily increase. I suspect what I am seeing is some kind of resource leak. I have no idea if it is a problem in our code or in the Xapian Python bindings. How do I debug this problem? Regards, Joost -- Joost Cassee http://joost.cassee.net

TC-ng questions/problems
...hat partly suffer from the problem above (we want to allow for an upload of 512kb and have to specify a upload of 712 to get that) but most of the time we have a far worse actual upload. Anyone any ideas? We use Debian 2.6.3-1-386 (Sarge) with tcng 9m. Any help is greatly appreciated. Groeten, Joost Kraaijeveld Askesis B.V. Not routing for 1 host?
Hi, I want to stop routing for 1 particular host in my network. I thought that this would do it: iptables -D INPUT -d aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd -j DROP iptables -D INPUT -s aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd -j DROP But that still shows traffic. What is the corract way to do that? When I used the following command to backup only my home dir, it worked as it should. # rsync -aRxW --delete /home/joost /mnt/backup Using rsync 2.5.6, but I have the same problem on another machine with rsync 2.4.6. Both use reiserfs. Does the delete option not work when source is '/' ? Joost.

Is there a way to get Design to install regardless of the dependency? (Since Hmisc is already installed.) Thanks, Joost -- Joost Kremers Life has its moments

rsync retry after connection failure
...if there's a way to get rsync reconnect every specified secs/mins when a connection can't be established at the time rsync is initiated. That would mean that no remote (WAN) backups will ever fail again on me, because it just will retry untill the remote side will be available. Thanks, Joost

GUI or other tools for traffic shaping
Hi, Are there GUI (preferable) or scripting tools available somewhere that can help me with traffic shaping? I have found MasterShaper and tcng but hey seem both unmaintained. Directly writing scripts is still a bit out of my reach, so I would like to learn by using tools... TIA Joost

I found a program that is mixing multiple OGG streams called "mixplayd", but I wasn't able to figure out if this program is first decoding and than mixing or if it is mixing native OGG and than decoding one mixed OGG stream. My question is this; Is there any reason for not using ogg_stream_flush all the time. So what are the advantages of ogg_stream_pageout?
