winbind and unix/nt login match use unix uid
...be a part of our NT domain.
I'm trying to determine if it's possible to configure winbind/smb so
that when the nt login name matches the unix login name the share is
mounted using their unix uid. With none matching account names,
username map works fine. It doesn't appear that "johnsmith =
johnsmith" works in the username map file.
thanks for any assistance,

group mapping on a member server
...s groups.
I can access file shares on all machines from Win XP or Win 2000
clients. On the security properties of a directory on the PDC , I can
view and set user and group permissions. The users and groups show
the correct doman. For example, assuming the domain is "ACME",
"johnsmith (ACME\johnsmith)"
"sales (ACME\sales)"
On the member server shares, I can attempt to add users and groups
from the "ACME" domain, but they don't stick. Permissions set on the
unix level show up as

password sync does not work
...assword on an XP client it fails with "you do
not have permission to change your password." If I try to change a
password, as administrator, from a Windows 2000 server with User
Manager for Domains (NT4 tools) I get
"the following error occured changing the properties of the user
johnsmith- Access is denied"
The samba logs for the XP client doesn't show any failures or
rejections. It does show entries like the following, which tool me
look like things are working up to a point.

Nightly automatic documentation generation
Is there a way to have RubyForge run our ''rake html_docs'' on SVN Head
each night and if successful copy to http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/doc/?
I do not know all the features RubyForge provides to us but this one
would be pretty nice.

NTLM oddities
...es so I can
finally offer SPA for pop3/imap.
Things are working fine with the MasterUser (horray!), however one of my
guys started using SPA with Outlook Express and started getting another
users mailbox.
Turns out to be related to NTLM. His Outlook express is configured for the
username of 'johnsmith'. However, you'll see the NTLM took the username from
his XP machine login, it appears, which is just "John". However, what is
really weird, is the "failed" on the "client out" line, but then the proxy
went ahead and proxied to the storage server.

Greek simbols in dialogs.
The problem is ... strange. When I'm using programs such as "Tottal commander", "Free commander", installing "hidden and dangerous deluxe" (free), letters in dialogs becomes Greek instead of Latin (you know those strange symbols from math formulas). So I don't understand what is written. How can I solve this?

The following sample sip.conf should serve as a good template:

Voice Pulse
Hello:
I am new to the list. I am trying to set up asterisk with voicepulse. I
have a voicepulse username + password, and SIP DID. When I login to
voicepulse, I have this under my devices tab:
Devices
*Login:* Sysxxxxxxx
*Password:* xxxxxxxxxx
*Context:* VPWS
*Connects to:* gw5.voicepulse.com
My question is: Do I need a 2.4.x kernel? Currently I am running
Debian/stable stock 2.2.x ? Has
