Icecast2 Station with multiple scheduled DJs?
is it free and will it work with my shoutcast server? Using MPD as an Icecast source (hint: using jack helps)
I thought I should report this: (In my case at least) defining a "jack" output for mpd caused a "shout" output to become operational. I was trying to configure mpd with a "shout" output to feed my Icecast2 server, but with no luck. Giving up, I fell back to option 2: Feeding my mpd output to darkice using "jack" as an interface. As soon as I had defined

Icecast2 Station with multiple scheduled DJs?
I have been playing with Icecast only for a couple of days, and I am trying to figure out how to do something. I want a listener to have to only deal with one stream, but I want to be able to switch the source of that stream between multiple sources (DJs). The core idea is that the listener only deals with /live.mp3 while in the background I can problematically switch between a series of live

Starting Icecast as a service on CentOS
Hi All, I've recently upgraded my hosting to a VPS running CentOS. I'm trying to configure the VPS to launch Icecast as a service so that Icecast starts if the virtual server reboots, or Icecast stops running. I've found several scripts out there to place in my init.d folder, but nothing seems to work for me as of yet. Here is my Icecast2 setup: Location=/usr/local/bin

If anyone is interested in what we've done, I'll be happy to tell more and share code. -John Hicks (For best results in communicating with me directly, substitute my name "johnhicks" in place of "johnlist" in my email address.) Darkice "Buffer overrun": how to troubleshoot?
We're running a darkice/icecast configuration to stream our LPFM radio station (and to provide a quick-n-dirty studio-transmitter-link). (See config data below.) We're getting intermittent "Buffer overrun!" errors out of darkice, and we associate these with interruptions in our audio stream that are quite noticeable. These occur anywhere from once to ten times per hour.

How to get listed in dir.xiph.org?
I've been trying to tweak my icecast.xml file to get listed in xip.xiph.org, but am not making any progress. I'm running icecast 2.3.1 and darkice 0.19 Here are what I think are the relvant parts of icecast.xml: <directory> <yp-url-timeout>15</yp-url-timeout> <yp-url>http://dir.xiph.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi</yp-url> </directory> and

What's best practice for serving multiple formats from a remote icecast server?
We are running an icecast2 server in conjunction with our LPFM radio station and need a little advice. We have been serving a single 128k ogg stream from a remote server and would like to make additional formats available (e.g. mp3, lower bandwidth, etc.) I would think this has been done a few thousand times and there would be a "best practice" but I can't find it. Our basic
