problem expanding a volume
Hello, I am having trouble expanding a volume. Every time I try to add bricks to the volume, I get this error: [root at gluster1 sdb1]# gluster volume add-brick vg0 gluster5:/export/brick2/sdb1 gluster6:/export/brick2/sdb1 /export/brick2/sdb1 or a prefix of it is already part of a volume Here is the volume info: [root at gluster1 sdb1]# gluster volume info vg0 Volume Name: vg0 Type:

samba problem with kernel 2.6.32-279.*
Hello, We use Norton Ghost, running in a PXE booted DOS, to handle Windows XP images. The images are stored on a samba share on our CentOS 6 server. This has worked without any problems for years. After kernel 2.6.32-279* it has stopped working. The symptom is that if I boot in DOS, and do: net use x: \\myserver\ghostimages dir x: I get an infinite loop where the first file name is listed

GlusterFS VS OpenVZ kernel
Hi, We have a problem with glusterFS. We are using it on Centos 5 machine with OpenVZ kernel. Gluster daemon and gluster clients run on the host, not in the container. Recently we noticed a problem when we upgraded the OpenVZ kernel. After the upgrade there are strange errors in case of accessing the gluster volume. There are a few folders that can't be seen with 'ls' but if you

Maildir issue.
...and generally tortured the setup, all to good effect. Everything performs as advertised, though you have to do a LOT of googling to get some of the answers when 'recovering'. There appears to be a lot of 'secret' recipes to get things done and I think the doc site should link to JoeJulians blog, among others <grin>. We then decided to see what email Maildir performance was like using a pop3 tester program. So we quickly installed qmail which has the qmail-pop3d daemon. The result was that the pop daemon cant see the email # telnet localhost 110 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connect...

Two Node Cluster
...There is also *<forward mode="route"/>*, but I dont fully understand the scenarios where one would need an *open* or a *route* forward mode. I have also shied away from using openvswitch, and have opted for ifupdown2. (I have taken most of my inspiration from this blog post: https://joejulian.name/post/how-to-configure-linux-vxlans-with-multiple-unicast-endpoints/ ) Some questions that I have for the mailing list, any help would be greatly appreciated: - Is my target configuration of a KVM cluster uncommon? Do you see drawbacks of this setup, or does it go against "typical conven...

gluster csi driver
I was chatting with Humble about the removed gluster support for Kubernetes 1.26 and the long deprecated CSI driver. I'd like to bring it back from archive and maintain it. If anybody would like to participate, that'd be great! If I'm just maintaining it for my own use, then so be it. ? It has been archived for 4 years, so it's going to need a bit of work. I also don't

Gluster & PHP - stat problem?
Has anyone ever ran into a problem in which PHP's stat() call to a file on a Gluster-backed volume randomly fails, yet /usr/bin/stat never fails? Running strace against both reveals that the underlying system calls succeed. I realize this is probably a PHP problem since I cannot replicate with a non-PHP-based script; however, was hoping someone on this list might have seen this before. RHEL

Hosed installation
...try of the failed brick. Is there any way to simply reset Gluster completely? Just to confirm, if I delete the volume so I can start over, deleting the volume will not delete the data. Is this correct? Finally, once the volume is deleted, do I have to do what Joe Julian recommended here? http://joejulian.name/blog/glusterfs-path-or-a-prefix-of-it-is-already-part-of-a-volume/ Thanks for any insights. - Ryan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Introducing... JMWBot (the alter-ego of johnmark)
Yes, it's true. I've been up late hacking on Gluster (and Puppet-Gluster)... While waiting for my code to compile, patch review (*cough*), and for JMW (aka johnmark) to take care of a few todo items, I realized I had never written an IRC bot!! Now I never aspired to be the bot master that JoeJulian is, but I figured I needed this notch on my hacker belt... Therefore, I'd like to introduce: JMWBot. (now with 20% more twisted!) JMWBot is the affectionate alter-ego of johnmark. JMWBot should most likely be found hanging out in #gluster, and waiting for johnmark to talk. If he does, JMWBot...
