Can't hear the caller
Hi,
I've got a strange issue, that I haven't found addressed on the wiki.
My asterisk box is behind a firewall which routes udp/tcp requests on 5060 and
8000 to asterisk.
When I make a call from a Zap or SIP extension on the inside of the firewall
to any Zap or SIP extension on the inside of the firewall, everything works

Asterisk, she no hang uppa the phone!
I've been working on the local side of asterisk for several days, and I have
the in-house dial plan pretty well corn fingered to my satisfaction.
Today I began working on the other side to make asterisk do things like place
an outgoing call to PSTN and route an incoming call from PSTN.
I'm using a TDM11B with a single fxs and a single fxo. My analog handset is
plugged into the port

MusicOnHold "zombie" mpg123 processes
Hi,
KMail crashed because I saved too many asterisk-users messages ... now I have
to ask directly, instead of searching in my private archive :)
Here's the problem: I'm using MusicOnHold, running mpg123, but I notice that
the processes don't die even after the user hangs up. They just sort of
"freeze" and stop consuming cpu (I hope).
Is there a way (within asterisk)

So what if I can't dial out ... or in ... Asterisk just blows my mind!
I subscribed to this list for about two months before I began posting, so I've
got a buttload of email to sift through ... I'm doing this BEFORE I flood the
list with my inane questions ...
But here goes:
I read a reply from one guy to another about recording. The message included
this context from extensions.conf:

Asterisk won't answer incoming analog line
I had to return my TDM11B because it put the PSTN line 'off hook' the moment I
plugged it in and wouldn't hang it up.
The new card seems to work because I can actually make an outgoing call from
the FXO port to my cell phone, so I'm pretty happy about that.
But Asterisk doesn't recognize incoming calls from the PSTN. If I dial my
home phone from my cell phone asterisk

"Out the box" solutions?
Hi, again.
I've spent a week trying to get asterisk to work on FreeBSD unix, with some
success. Everything works until I plug the box into the TELCO line and then
the line goes off-hook and stays that way.
So I bit the bullet and decided to install the application on a fresh linux
install. Not to start an OS war, here, but linux is ... difficult ... for an
old unix hand to get his mind
