When the user is 'joe at mds.xyz' login works fine on Win 10. Same user

srvtools (Usrmgr.exe) : strange problem
...I have noted a strange problem when using Usrmgr.exe
(from srvtools). The problem arise when a net groupmap is done on a
group for which a user exist with the same name that the specified
unixgroup. For example, lets say that I have the following UNIX user and
group create on my Samba server :
joe (in /etc/group)
joe (in /etc/passwd)
Now I create the following map :
net groupmap add ntgroup="Joe Smith" unixgroup=joe type=domain
Now if I start Usrmgr.exe and I check the user joe I can see the group
"Joe Smith" and others groups. If I try to remove the group "Joe S...

This is the one line entry I presently have in the sieve script:

Now, what I would like to do is find a way to do this:
if envelope :detail "To" "joe" {fileinto :detail; stop}
That does not work though. I really do not want to list every available
user individually since it will eventually become a n...

How to set absolute path for rsync?
Thanks so much for the quick reply, Kevin!
I tried with ssh and --partial-dir, it looks the partial file still will be
stored in local dir, but not in /tmp.
Every 1.0s: ls -al /home/joe/rsync/ /tmp/

Two Windows users with two passwords must map to the same unix user
Hello,
I have no idea how to implement the following scenario apart
from running two instances of samba on the same machine...
I need a setup where two different Windows users will authen-
ticate with two different passwords but get mapped to the same
unix user.
That is
JOE got password PASS1 and maps to unix user joe with uid 1000
and
JACK got password PASS2 and maps to unix user joe with uid 1000
I can set up two instances of samba on the same machine with two
sets of config files, tdbs, ....
In instance 1 the smbpasswd file contains the password entry for joe:...

Samba 3.0.12 (gid of user [joe] doesn't exist) Weird error when Client logs on.
Hi,
I just recently purchased a new server and took this opportunity to
upgrade to the latest version of samba (3.0.12). Unfortunatly, I have
some weird occurances. I have a user called "joe" who is my admin
user.
In /etc/passwd I have this:
joe:x:500:500:Joe:/home/joe:/bin/bash
In /etc/group I have this:
admin:x:500:joe
id returns correctly:
uid=500(joe) gid=500(admin) groups=500(admin)
I have a very simple samba setup. With only 2 users (and 1 machine
account) in my smbp...

How to set absolute path for rsync?
With rsyncd you can't. You would have to switch to rsync over ssh...
rsync -a --delete --delay-updates --partial-dir=/tmp -P /home/joe/rsync/
10.148.34.28:/home/joe/rsync/
Also, when you use --partial-dir you probably want to also use --temp-dir.

trying to combine static userdb with LDAP passdb with per-user userdb_mail and userdb_home
...r/vmail partition. I designed my own ldap schema and according to
dovecot documentation that user should always has home and mail directory
i added separate attributes for user home and mail. My typical user
that is stored in LDAP has homeDirectory (which stores value like
/var/vmail/domain.com/j/joe) and mailMessageStore (which stores value
like /var/vmail/domain.com/j/joe/Maildir). All data under /var/vmail is
owned by Postfix MTA user (which is called `postfix', uid=89). After
reading dovecot documentation I understand that my setup needs to
combine static userdb with LDAP passdb. But...
