Best Asterisk Platform
What is the best asterisk platform to use? What are you guys using? I am looking for something to host either in our data center or at the customer prem where I have the control over the unit and not through a contractor. I dont mind paying a license fee for a front end interface but still would rather not have to pay. Thanks, --Eric -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

Global variables in global variables
Hi. I have a very old dialplan (ie: a dialplan for a very old version of Asterisk) which I've just transferred to Asterisk 16.28.0 The [globals] section of that dialplan includes: Kphones=SIP/KC470IP&SIP/KSnom870 Sphones=SIP/SYealinkT38G&SIP/SGC610IP Allphones=${Kphones}&${Sphones} In the old system, this results in ${Allphones} containing:

Opinion on Attended transfer in features.conf
Hi, In 1.6.1, it seems Attended Transfer do not behave exactly behave like Blind Transfer when transferer hangs up before callee answers : - in Blind Transfer, caller (ie transferee) is hearing Ringing tone when callee's phone is ringing - in Attended Transfer, caller (ie transferee) is hearing Music On Hold when callee's phone is ringing - in Attended Transfer, if callee don't answer

64bit: any problems with asterisk?
We're getting a new server. I'm considering installing 64bit fedora rather than the 32bit we use now. Is 64 bit a problem with asterisk? Any issues we should expect? sean

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
Can't anyone stop self-promotion and tell the poor guy what he needs. A T1/E1 X-over cable using an RJ-45 (8-cond.) is pinned out as follows: 1 - 4 2 - 5 3 - NU 4 - 1 5 - 2 6 - NU 7 - NU 8 - NU NU = Not Used I have not in my experience seen any problems with using a Good Quality Cat5 vs. Cat 3 (telco standard) cable for X-connects. YMMV, but you should be fine. As far as the shielding

Spontaneous reboot due to MySQL lookups ?
Hello using Asterisk 1.8.32. I notice that there is a spontaneous reboot of the Asterisk system from time to time. When I look in the logs (verbose file) I noticed that every time this occurs it's at a moment that there is a MySQL action, be it a lookup or an insert/update/delete. I must say I do have some MySQL queries that occur in my dialplan when a call comes in, to look up

Printer recommendations
Since my old Epson C86 has finally managed to clog up the print heads, I'm in the market for a replacement. I'd like to know what the people on this list are using for printers that are currently available, since we are using versions of CUPS and foomatic that are frozen, and any other issues or "gotchas" that you are aware of. For the replacement printer, I'm considering a

Bridged line appearance
So are there any plans for bridged line appearance support in Asterisk? The new Linksys SPA9000 supports it. A lot of other VoIP systems from Nortel, Sylantro etc. supposedly support it. Seems to me that Asterisk needs to get on the bandwagon or be relegated to call centers, specialized voicemail applications, and phone chat businesses. It's not needed for companies used to PBX's but
