Read files in a folder when new data files come
...need to
read these new data files when they are in folder.
so far, I did this job manually, that is to say, each time I go to
that folder and find new data files, then use my R program to
read these new data files. I am wondering if anyone know how to
perform this job automatically in R.
thanks,

question about read.xls
...and using read.xls to read Excel.xls file.
But it needs to install perl on my machine first, and then give the
following until it can work:
read.xls(file,sheet=i,perl="E:\\Perl\\bin\\bin\\perl.exe");
I am wondering if there is other way to read Excel.xls file without needing
do this?

InstantRails 1.0 problems...
Hi,
I have installed InstantRails 1.0 Final on Win XP (Home SP2) and Win 2K 2000.
I was able to get the two apps (cookbook, typo) work fine with Webrick but not with SCGI server. I tried changing the SCGI settings through the InstallRails.exe console so that the Runtime Mode: would be "development" instead of "production" and SCGI port: to 5000 instead of 9998.

master detail problem
Hello all,
Has anyone done one of these? I''ve done similar things in java and php,
by having easy access to SQL statements. I am new to Ruby/Rails( I''ve
been at it for 10 days ) and thus far find it extremely confusing. I''ve
got a bit more of a handle on it from the Agile book that someone loaned
me, but I still find it hard to understand.
Anyway, I''ve got

Question: HP LaserJet III
Here is my bit "o" problem:
We have an HP Laser Jet III with the postscript add on. We have been
using the printer under samba for while, but every print job, there is a
page that says %[LAST PAGE]% + other garbage. Does anybody know of any
hacks or fix's to get the printer / samba to get this system to not
print that last page.

Hi, Mark et al.:
Thanks, Mark.
Three comments:
1. Rvmmin was one of the methods I tried after Ravi
directed me to optimx. It returned NAs for essentially everything. See

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
