Print Job Notification
Can anyone suggest a way to have a notification after a print job has
completed. I currently have this as my print command:
lpr -r -P%p %s; csh -c 'echo \"%J has started printing on %S\" |
/usr/bin/smbclient -U %L -M %m -I %I' &
It kind of does what I want, but notice that the message says that "Job has
STARTED printing on Printer". This is because with this

would contain shared libraries, which it doesn't. Especially it
makes no sense if I install the binaries and delete the build
directory (where it potentially even leaves a security issue
behind). Am I missing something, or can I safely adjust
Makefile.rules to not use any rpath?
Thanks,

Permission problem in message command with guest ftp user
I haven't seen this posted so I will add one more reason why the message
command may not work: Permissions.
I have this in my [global]:
message command = /bin/bash -c 'cat %s | mutt -s You_logged_on jlh;rm %s' &
This never would work and I never could figure out why.
Turns out that I have guest user ftp, who for security reasons doesn't have
much in the way of write privileges in my /var/spool/mail/jlh file:
-rwxrwxr-x jlh mail Nov 8 19:26 jlh
All my logons are as a guest.

MIT Kerberos and OpenSSH
Howdie,
Is there a way to get the default BSD 5.3 openssh to compile against
the MIT kerberos libraries? I have set NO_KERBEROS=yes in /etc/make.conf so
that the heimdal kerberos is not built, and rebuilt world, then installed
/usr/ports/security/krb5 and rebuilt world again. sshd is however not being
built against MIT at all.

Its an option to enable linear scan register allocator. It probably wasn't
default when the docs were written.

What does -enable-linscan do? It's not referenced anywhere in
NewNightlyTest.pl, but it's given as example in [2].
I will also take the freedom to disable the nightly test if I need
the CPU cycles for something else during a night.

Mount the complete SMB tree
Hi,
Is it possible to mount the complete SMB tree (Network Neighborhood in MS
Windows) to /smb for example? I currently only know how to mount individual
shares. Thanks in advance,

This basically means llvm-gcc needs to be rebuild every time llvm
is built and the test run. Shouldn't this be part of
NewNightlyTest.pl then?

What's the status/progress/timeline on that front (specifically, this
feature)? Last thing I want to do is step on a GSoCers toes, but I'd love to
lend a hand on this front where possible. =]

No idea, maybe he will respond. Don't let it stop you if you want to

...nyone know where I should start looking? I found one post which
indicates that this "camelize" method lives in
ActiveSupport::CoreExtensions::String::Inflections
but I don''t know enough Rails to interpret how to remedy to the

Any and all help is appreciated.

[LLVMdev] Linux x86 testers needed!
All,
We are in desperate need of linux x86 testers (32 or 64 bit). If you
could set one up, the LLVM project would be very grateful. Right now
we have virtually no testers covering this platform.
Directions to set up a tester are here:
http://llvm.org/docs/TestingGuide.html#nightly
These directions could be improved of course. If you have any
questions, I will be happy to assist you in

PLEASE HELP ME!!!
For some reason, I can not change any of my shares! I just started trying to configure samba yesterday.
Here is what I have: (2) Windows 98 SE Systems
(1) Debian 2.2 r 3 Linux System running Samba
The username on the Windows machines is "Name" and I want to be able to access a few shares on the Samba machine.

I am having a problem with some Windows 95 PC's .
I had Samba 2.0.5 installed on a Sun system with Solaris 6, and a local
network of PC's with W95 and W98, and everything was working fine. I then
installed a new server with Solaris 8, and changed the IP addresses on the
network, and the W98 PC was fine as was one of the W95 PC's, but 2 W95Pc's

There is a script, findsmb, which comes with samba. First turn off nmbd
(killall nmbd) , and then run findsmb, to see who is on your network. You'll
have to restart nmbd. net view from windows is said to do the same thing.

Listing samba 2.2.8a (redhat 8) verables to a text file
I have been using samba for a while now with great sucesses it has replaced my Windows 2000 server completely, I am using
a mix of windows98, 2000 and XP with no problems.
However i would like to do two things,
1) print samba veriables to a log file in a location of my choice
2) When a windows test user logs on, i would like to display a windowed dialog box showing the verious samba veriable
