rid_idmap_get_id_from_sid: no suitable range available for sid
...the following message posted on the linux.samba newsgroup, but so far
no response. Therefore I try again in this group, hoping that there are
other people reading this group, and yes, that hopefully somebody can help
me with my samba winbind problems.

OOM condition with file-4.17-9.0.1.el5
Hello all,
We just encountered several serious Out of Memory Problems caused by the
file 4.17-9.0.1.EL5 utility on our mail Gateway. CentOS 5.1 kept it self
alive by killing it parent process Amavisd-new. Manually restarting
Amavisd-new and flushing the mail queue caused same problem. Disabling file
for the moment, caused Amavisd-new to fail, and also defer all mail.

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL

Samba 3.0.23 winbind use default domain = yes behaviour
Hello list,
I encountered a problem in Samba 3.0.23 regarding the winbind use default
domain = yes behaviour.
It only works for the users an NOT anymore for the Group. So this make
getent group to show NETBIOSDOMAINNAME/group which course mail squid
configuration to fail. My squid configuration allowed access based on the AD
groups, which are provided by Winbindd.

IDMAP RID problems and documentation

After upgrading to 3.0.25b (Also tried 3.0.28) I tried to make use of the
new syntax for IDMAP. But I failed, Also there is a lack on documentation
how to us it. (Yes there is a man, but it contains limited explanation and
