Fine.
You will still need to set up the dual default gateways -- I believe
that
the advanced routing HOWTO has information about how to do that. There''s
a
reference to the HOWTO in the Shorewall Traffic Shaping documentation.

If I did, the bandwidth has already been wasted and the threat may never
return anyway. An auto-blacklisting solution like I described would be
much more effective.
Anyway, that''s what I''d like to see.

Parameterized Samples Withdrawn
Although the parameterized samples have allowed people to get a firewall
up and running quickly, they have unfortunately set the wrong level of
expectation among those who have used them. I am therefore withdrawing
support for the samples and I am recommending that they not be used in new
Shorewall installations.

Samba SID/RID, UID/GID Best Practices?
I have a new Samba 3 domain backed by LDAP. I am using Fedora-DS for
LDAP component, so I have relied on a blend of tools to get up and
running including Fedora-DS console and phpLDAPAdmin and (momentarily!)
sambaldap-tools. I am generally following the great IDEALX How-To but
having to adapt it somewhat.
Standards for well-know Samba groups like "Domain Admins" were easy to

Non-default Domain group RID and NAS problem....
All,
Many moons ago I set up Samba 3.x with LDAP (Fedora Directory Server)
back end. Frankly, I forget what example configurations I worked off
of, but the GIDs and SambaSIDs for well-known "Domain" groups (Admins,
Computers, Guests, Users) start around 2512.
Fast forward 6 months and we have a commercial NAS (EMC) in the domain.
It has worked fine for basic home directories, but

Joining EMC NAS to Samba 3 Domain?
I see list discussions on this subject from a few years back but they
were very brief and, it seems, inconclusive.
I would be interested in hearing from anybody who has discovered the
"trick" to getting an EMC Celerra to join their Samba 3.x domain.
I have an old NetApp Filer happily joined. I simply created an account
with "smbldap-useradd -w filername" and when I then
