why i can not put my swap files in /dev?
...eate some swap files in /dev directory for my desktop. the dd and mkswap were ok. but when I try to swapon it, i get this: # swapon /dev/myswap swapon: /dev/myswap: Invalid argument but when I mv the file to some other directory like /mnt or /, the swapon works. could sb. tell me why? -- Tang Jianwei

uuid problem while compiling glue

Hi All, I have one netcf question, please help me to resolve it, thanks. I can set a IFF_RUNNING flag to a bridge device which are no interface device attached. What status of a flag on a bridge device in current kernel?(w/o interface), is this a new change in kernel or other component? When does %POST kick in in Kickstart?
Okay, this is really simple but because Google has deteriorated in quality over time, it's getting really hard to find straight forward answers. openvpn + bridge utils in CentOS 6
...PCs cannot get the local PCs' MACs and also, the local PCs cannot get the remote PCs' MACs but when i run "brctl showmacs br0" it will list all the MACs and also " brctl show" will show that all the correct adapters are in br0 SELinux disabled any ideas? -- Tang Jianwei System Administrator

sqlite db is note created with "rails" command.
When I try to create my rail demo application by following an example, there is no default database created under db directory? Is that normal? I do have all the sqlite3 stuff installed. Thanks, J.w.

best ways to do mysql backup
we have multiple servers approx 10 and each has about 100 GB of data in the /var/lib/mysql dir , excluding tar , mysqldump and replication how do we take backup for these databases on to a remote machine and store them datewise , ( the remote machine is a 2TB HDD ) currently tar is not feasible as the data is too huge and the same goes with mysqldump suggestion will be of great help --
