Installing for php8
Hi,
I am trying to follow the instructions here:
https://xapian.org/docs/bindings/php/
It doesn't seem to say how to actually download the files. Can anybody
clear that up for me? Thanks.

net rpc testjoin error
I have a PDC running debian wheezy with samba 3.5.11 . If I run 'net rpc

'UW-MATH'
net_rpc_join_ok: failed to get schannel session key from server HUBBLE for
domain UW-MATH. Error was NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO

samba4 on debian squeeze
I'm setting up a debian squeeze file server with NFS mounted home
directories and authentication via ldap. Now I want to give Windows users
access to those same home directories. I thought I'd try samba4. I figure I
have nothing to lose since this is a virtual machine and if I don't like the
results, I can just restore from a snapshot. Its not a production machine
yet.

filesystem of choice?
I'm setting up a new linux fileserver and I was wondering if samba likes
one filesystem more than another. I have to format a 1.8Tb partition
sometime today and I'll probably do ext3 unless samba prefers something
else.
We have a lot more linux users than Windows users but the Windows users have
more problems with slow access.

switching to smbldap-tools from custom scripts
I'm looking for advice on how to handle this problem... I've inherited a
samba domain with an ldap backend. It uses custom scripts to add users and
to join a machine to the domain. I don't mind the custom add user script but
I'd like to do away with the custom script to join a machine to the domain.
The custom script breaks all the time and our Windows systems admin is

samba4 & ldap?
I am confused... Using an ldap server as a backend for samba4 is not
recommended? We are primarily a linux shop. We have an ldap database we use
for authentication. I can't use that anymore if I switch to samba4?

documentation for configuring folder redirection
I believe that once you have roaming profiles configured, all you need to do
to configure folder redirection is set some registry keys. I'd like to turn
that job over to our Windows sys admin. Can someone provide me with their
favorite documentation for configuring folder redirection? Keep in mind I am
passing this link along to a Windows sys admin. Our backend is samba 3.6.3

dovecot mailbox to csv
We (the Math department at the U of Wisconsin) recently switched over from
another server to dovecot
One thing that a lot of people here do is set up an on-line form that sends
them email. They use formmail for this. I have them edit their procmail
config so that all the messages go into a particular mail folder.... So far
so good.
With our old system, all messages in a folder were kept in a

PDC & file server on same machine?
How much of a resource hog is a PDC? My understanding is that authentication
is done vs a BDC if available. I configured my new file server as the domain
PDC because I figured it would already have to run samba. I have two other
machines configured as BDCs to serve as logon servers.
I'm looking for opinions on whether I'm asking for performance problems by
making my file server the
