Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
Hello Louis,
Yes, I do talk about join a 2012 Windows server as a secondary AD-DC, my bad, I wasn't clear enough here.
About Samba version, we can assume that it's a Samba 4.11 with 2012 schema.
That's quite a good news here, I will test ASAP. I just wanted to know it anybody had problems beforehand;
Thanks a lot :)

Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
Hello all,
Is it possible to join a 2012 Windows Server to a Samba 4.11 Domain ?
We know there's issue by 2012 Windows Server because there's a wmi request before attempt to join domain.
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Server_2012_/_2012_R2_DC_to_a_Samba_AD
But 4.11 can have a 2012 schema, isn't it ? So, does the issue is solved by emulating a wmi request or

Hello,
with the packages from Louis it works fantastic.

Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
Hai,
Ok, i'll help you re-question this.
First of all, are we taling about a join as Member or AD-DC.
Members should not give any problems. So (and i hate it) i "assume" ad-dc..
If you want to join the Windows server as AD-DC to a samba domain.
Which version is samba is currently running and what is its schema level?
And with which samba version as the Samba AD-domain setup.

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hi,
I want to migrate a Windows Small Business Server 2011 domain controller
to Samba 4. The SBS2011 has about 40 users and 100 client computers.
Also about 50 GPOs are in use. Furthermore there is Exchange running on
the SBS and it has to stay there for the next couple of month (it will
be replaced by a new mail system later).
So far I think I can either try to migrate or start from

Samba4 Winbind on DC Authentication problem
So, I've finally gotten around to installing a Samba4 AD DC. I've
joined a Win7 and Ubuntu machine to the domain so far, and all works
perfectly. Great job guys, it's nice to see this functionality working
solidly on Samba!
The problem is coming in on the actual DC host. My Ubuntu laptop is
running winbindd 3.6.18, and as I said, all went flawlessly. The DC
host is running

Question about securelevel
I've read about securelevel in the mailing list archive, and found some
pitfalls (and seems to me to be discarded soon).
But According to me, the following configuration should offer a good
security:
- mount root fs read only at boot;
- set securelevel to 3;
- do not permit to unmount/remount roots fs read-write (now it is possible
by means of "mount -uw /");
- the only way to make

SSH - Winbind and Keybased Auth
Hi Team,
We have a weird issue that we are trying to understand. We have winbind set up and working successfully for user authentication with passwords via ssh. We have pam.d/system-auth-ac and password-auth-ac (symlinked) set to require membership of a group which works great via password authentication.
However, if the user has a ssh key set up, they seem to bypass the group membership

rate limiting sshd connections ?
Does anyone know of a way to rate limit ssh connections from an IP address
? We are starting to see more and more brute force attempts to guess
simple passwords "/usr/sbin/inetd -wWl -C 10" is nice for slowing down
attempts to services launched via inetd. Is there an equiv method for
doing this to sshd? Running from inetd has some issues supposedly.

Inotify
Hi,
Is there any plans to use the Linux inotify, which is a major
improvement over dnotify ? (Linux mechanism for communicating filesystem
events to user space)

FreeBSD Security Advisories ( openssl )
Am I correct in assuming that if I do a:
make OPENSSL_OVERWRITE_BASE=yes install clean
in /usr/ports/security/openssl ( after updating my ports tree ) that the
port will overwrite the base openssl, thus not requiring the subsequent
patch and recompile of the OS to patch this Vulnerability?

Shared maildirs with symlinking
Hello,
I try to set up a shared maildir with symbolink links, but it doesn't
work.
The main user, from which I would share a mailbox, creates a mailbox
named "Commun" with thunderbird.
I see on the file system from the server that a directory .Commun is
created in his ~/Maildir/ and that the file ~/Maildir/.subscriptions has
now such an entry. Right.
In ~/Maildir/Commun the

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hello Thor,
>From our experience with one client whom had the same situation as you, we first migrated exchange to another mail system then we migrated the AD part.
The SBS version we had to migration only allowed a secondary DC for a fixed period of time .
The Exchange mail extensions were properly handled by Samba, even if they weren't used anymore.
I don't remember the exact

How to monitoring activity on a card?
My setup 4.9 stable with IPFW. Machine acts as gateway for two machines.
What are my options on monitoring activity on my external card?
This morning I noticed my DSL modem activity light is blinking non-stop.
Looking at /var/log/ don't see anything suspicious.
I feel tempted to add "log" to all my ipfw pass rules, but wonder if there
isn't a better way.
I am mostly concerned
