Datum: Mon, 02 Feb 2015 16:14:12 -0800
Von: jimc <jesmeyano at gmail.com>
An: samba at lists.samba.org
Y'all once told me that I should not have a kerberos server running on
the same box as samba4.
Where do I find such a distro?

samba Digest, Vol 155, Issue 24; Still can't figure out acl issues
Yes, I did an fsck from a boot dvd. It came up clean.
I did a recursive setfacal to set all acls to default.

smb.conf getting changed?
Hi!
I got my first Samba 4 system up and running. {No applause, just throw
money. Paper please, coins hurt}
It is just a home network of about a dozen or so boxes.
I have noticed that when I do a testparm, the result is not the same as
the file I created.
I'm fairly certain it isn't anything to worry about; I'm just trying to
learn.
Thanks!

Moving server to new box
Hi!
I wish to move my Samba 4 server to a new box. Since the old one is pata
and the new one is sata, I cannot simply swap disks.
What is the best way to transfer my server without loosing configuration
files?
Thanks

How do I disable kerberos?
HI.
I have been told that kerberos cannot be running while samba4 is. How do
I do this? I seem to have missed this on the how-to and system requirements.
I have commented out every entry in /etc/services that seems even
remotely kerberosish. I still get errors on kinit and host (from the
how-to).
I have googled until my computers are laughing at me and have posted on
every forum I can find.

Still can't figure out ACL issues
Yah, jimc again.
I still cannot figure out what is wrong with my dc. The problem began
with being unable to log on from Windows boxes after a power hit.
The initial symptoms were:
1) When I log in on a Windows machine, with an account that should have
administrator permissions, I don't have said admin rights.
2) When I attempt to launch the Windows remote server tools, I can

delete kerberos databases and start over
Hi.
Something happened with my Kerberos database*. I don't know what. I
don't care much (right now).
What I need to do now is to recover.
I am running a small home network: 3 win7 boxes, 2 xps, 2 Mint Linux
and one Puppy.
I tried deleting /usr/local/samba/private/* and
/usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf as the how-to suggests, then doing a
samba-tool domain provision.
All my Windoze

acl_xattr.so
HI. village idiot here.
I have tried to set up Samba4 servers on several distros that have it
preinstalled. this week. Mint, OpenSuse, and Ubuntu server all fail
during domain provisioning with the message 'error loading
...acl_xattr.so: cannot open...No such file or directory.
I have changed etc/fstab to include user_xattr and acl.
What in the wild, wild world of sports is going on?

kerberos on samba4 server / error loading ...acl_xattr.so (reply to Reindl Harald's replies)
Village idiot here again. Thank you for your replies. Really.
As for the acl_xattr.so: I was trying a new 'out of the box' install. I
have done the whole download source/compile/provision bit on a Mint 17.1
and I am getting much farther. Now I get 'cannot find kdc for realm
"ozco.home" while getting initial credentials" when I try kinit.
About Kerberos. You advised me

Still can't figure out ACL issues
Here's a new clue; When I attempt to add a computer with Samba-tool, it
seems to work fine, but listusers still shows no members in the
Computers group.

tsig verify failure
Hi!
My Samba 4 system seems to be running reasonably well, but...
I am getting the following error:
TSIG error with servier: tsig verify failure
Faied nsupdate: 2
yadda, yadda.
This is from the command *samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names
*All I can find on the web is time synchronization problems.
Any ideas?
I can send a full transcript if it would help..
Thanks!

Samba 4 selftest errors
Hi.
Where might I find some kind of reference for the messages generated by
'make test'? I would at least like to know which ones I can safely ignore.
Thanks

Printer IP
HI!
My printer somehow got its IP changed. How do I change my server (Mint
linux 13, Samba 4.06) to reflect the change?

printer spool directory
HI!
I've noticed that every time I install Samba 4, I need to create a
/usr/local/samba/var/spool directory and give it 777 permissions.
If I don't do that, I can't share the printers with my windoze machines.
Is this by design? Should this be put into the how-to?
Thanks

kerberos/samba errors?
These two problems must be related.
kinit: cannot resolve servers for kdc in realm "${REALM}" while getting
initial credentials
samba-tool dns zonelist catnip
yadda
yadda,
etc.
failed to connect to host 127.0.1.1 on port 135 NT_STATUS_REFUSED
krb5 is as provided in /usr/local/samba/share/setup/krb5.conf
/etc/services shows port 135 as:
loc-srv 135-tcp emap
loc_srv 137-udp emap

AD + smbd?
Stupid question # 885:
Can Samba 4.1 be both AD server and smb server?
Some recent updates on my server broke a bunch of stuff. Samba was among
them.
I have managed to recover the AD server, but the smb server refuses to
take control. Whenever I run the 'smbclient -L localhost -U%', I get all
the correct messages, but no workgroup master.

Still confused about Kerberos password expiry
I am running 4.1.6, as both a domain controller and a smb server.
Whenever Kerberos decides my password needs to be changed, I have to
change it on all the other boxes, too.
How can I:
A) Set the Kerberos password to never expire (I should be able to deal
with password changes in Samba-Tool, eh?)
B) Set the Kerberos password complexity off
C) Tell Kerberos to stop remembering old passwords

RPC server unavailable?
I have a Samba 4.1.6 up and running(?)
When I try to join the AD, I get 'RPC server is unabailable.'
This also happens when I try the Microsoft Remote Administration tools,
I get the same issue.
The samba, smbd, and auth logs don't seem to provide the answer I need,
but that may only mean I can't see it.
The workgroup server works fine.
I have spent hours online and in the samba
