pwdump for ASU (Advanced Server for Unix) needed!
...the ASU (Advanced Server for
Unix) will be replaced by Samba. The pwdump for Nt is pretty for Windows NT,
but I don't know if there is an Unix dump tool to transfer the ASU SAM
database to the Samba's smbpasswd file. Any help is welcomed!
Thanks in advance,

recommended dsp and psychoacoustics texts?
...dsp and
psychoacoustics texts? There seem to be a lot out there to choose from.
(For DSP, I own _A Digital Signal Processing Primer_ by Steiglitz, which seems
like a good introduction and has some practical commentary. I also have
_Digital Signal Processing: A Practical Approach_ by Ifeachor and Jervis.
This is not as introductory as it sounds, has a lot to say about filters but
very little about compression, and has overall not been particularly useful.)

An "unsubsettable object" in a mixed model
I am having problems using the /lme /command to fit mixed models. I have
a data set similar to longitudinal data, except the hypothesised
correlation is between observations taken from different individuals in
the same family rather than from the same individual at different times.
As soon as I try to specify any correlation structure other than
independent, I get the error message

I''m interested in both positive and negative reports. If you are willing,
please contribute
- name of the hosting service
- how long you have used them
- your experience ("flawless!", "it''s crap!")
You *do not* need to reply saying your VPS service works great. This is
